Wirer won his first start at the biathlon ladies

Italian Dorothea Werer won the 7.5km sprint in Ostersund, which opened the season at the Biathlon World Cup.

The World Cup winner last season made only one mistake in both shots and finished with a time of 19: 48.5 minutes. The Italian left 8.6 seconds behind Norwegian Martha Olsbu Roiseland, who made two mistakes in the shooting.
