Former Manchester City manager Kevin De Bruyne has given him advice if he wants to win the Champions League.

Vanhaisebrueck coached De Bruyne at Genk in 2009.

The 55-year-old said: "Kevin has won two league titles and several English cups with Manchester City, and has been named player of the season in Germany."

"But he has never won anything internationally, the Champions League or the World Cup, and these are the things that are always taken into account."

"Once he has won one of these awards, I have no doubt that he will compete for the FIFA World Player of the Year and the Golden Ball."

"He could have done it with City but with their defense, I am not convinced of him, and I am not saying it would be easier for him to win the Champions League with Barcelona or Real Madrid."
