Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo, the new Maranello racing car

In conjunction with the new 488 Challenge Evo, Ferrari presents the evolution of the 488 GT3 competition, which by 2020 also adds the name Evo to its name.

The model that competes in all the FIA GT categories of the world was exhibited in Mugello and includes its Evolution package, which applies to aerodynamics, interior ergonomics, safety, reliability and conductive dynamics, all in accordance with FIA regulations.

The brand's engineers worked on stability with a new front design, the result of 18,000 hours of calculations and simulations, followed by hard work in the wind tunnel. This led to the redesign of the fascia, which now has a smaller section under the lights. This, together with the introduction of new elements that generate more aerodynamic load in the front, increase stability and aerodynamic balance.

The aerodynamic work was extended to other parts of the car to improve air flows, now offering new larger vans and redesigned channels, while the rear wing has a new design that aims to achieve the same effect.

The new Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo includes a greater wheelbase to optimize the use of the tires, the weight has been reduced a little more and the center of gravity was lowered. Likewise, both stability control and ABS were optimized.

The engine, however, has not undergone modifications. It is still the V8 twinturbo with a bench open at 90 °, although now it has improved electronics to improve reliability and generate more precise torque delivery.

Inside the seats are replaced by some of the Sabelt brand that meet the new safety standards of the FIA, which in addition to more rigid and robust, are 2.4 kilos lighter and include new belts.

Ferrari will also offer a package called 24H / Endurance, for customers who want to participate in long-term races. It includes a front with extra light system, a fuel and oil tombstone system, carbon fiber clutch, brake calipers derived from the GTE and wheels with central nut.
