[MC]Ronin[MC] Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Challenge yourself without even playing An extremely curious situation resulted in a penalty shootout, marking a match between Holstein Keel and Bochum in the 11th round of the German Second Bundesliga. The home side's backup Michael Eberwain, who has not even recorded a minute for Holstein's team since the start of the season, sparked a penalty after touching the ball in his own penalty box. Eberwain was warming up near his team door when a ball flying out of the pit was stopped with his foot just before leaving the field. Chief Justice Timo Gerach, however, saw this and, after consulting the VAR system, ruled the penalty in Bochum's favor, as Eberwain's actions, even wholly involuntary, were prohibited by football rules. From the penalty kick, the visitors from Bochum leveled the score in the 38th minute, but fortunately for the hosts their mistake proved to be fatal as Holstein came away with a 2-1 victory with a goal in the second half of Jani-Luca Sera.
