Toyota makes official that Fernando Alonso will run the Dakar 2020

Fernando Alonso will run from January 5 on the Dakar 2020 on board a Toyota Hilux and with Marc Coma co-driver. The Toyota Gazoo Racing team has announced it by presenting the Asturian driver as part of his squad for the appointment with Nasser Al-Attiyah, Giniel De Villiers and Bernhard Ten Brike. His presence at the event, which will be held for the first time in Saudi Arabia, was taken for granted but had not been confirmed until Thursday.

A renowned signing to give more media the next Dakar and focus on Toyota. The Japanese team wanted a signing like this to continue drawing its line of strong betting on the Dakar, as it already does with the World Resistance or the World Rally Championship. After achieving its first Dakar in 2019, Toyota expands its squad to four cars with Alonso.

The presentation ceremony took place in Salou. A big event at the facilities of PortAventura, taking advantage of the 55th Rally of the World Cup in Catalonia, a race in which Tanak can get the title.
