[MC]Ronin[MC]
Pumpkins decorated the EU meeting room Pumpkins adorned the Brussels meeting room, reminding EU leaders that not only is Brexit's date approaching October 31st, but also Halloween. European leaders gathered Thursday for the EU summit. Earlier, in consultation with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, the leaders of the 27 countries approved an updated version of the EU withdrawal deal. As footage from the meeting room, which is closed to the press, is common in the EU Council press center, large and small pumpkins of different shapes and colors are artistically displayed in the center of the round table, together with protocol flowers, AFP said. The coincidence of the planned divorce date for London and the EU with the date of Halloween has already triggered a wave of sarcastic remarks in the European press. Britain's "difficult" exit from the EU, ie without an agreement, has raised serious concerns in the EU because of possible economic consequences. Halloween is celebrated annually on October 31 in the US, Canada and Europe.
