In the beta version of WhatsApp for Android it is now possible to lock the application and unlock it using the fingerprint. People who like to protect their conversations may soon have this functionality available.

The fingerprint lock has been in the beta for three months for the iOS operating system, and this week came to the Android trial. That probably means that it will arrive soon for all WhatsApp users.

The fingerprint lock can be activated from the application settings and, according to the images shared by Wabetainfo, using the functionality will not restrict receiving calls from WhatsApp or being able to answer them. But it will be necessary to recognize the fingerprint each time the application is opened.

In addition, the application will allow to define time intervals in which the fingerprint will be requested. For example, the user could choose to have authentication requested immediately. Thus, if you leave WhatsApp, for example, to copy information that you will attach in a message and return to the app, you will have to authenticate. Other options are after one minute and after 30 minutes.

Finally, you can also decide if you want a preview of the received messages to be shown on the cell phone notifications.

In case you have the beta version of the application on your cell phone, you just have to make sure you have version 2.19.221 for Android. If it still does not appear, you must wait for a new one.
