NEWSLETTER Are you curious about what's happening in the car world? We send you the news of the day directly by email. Renault presented at the beginning of July the first images and technical information about the new generation Captur, which will also benefit from a plug-in hybrid version that will be available on the market starting next spring. At the time, the French manufacturer only published summary information about this version, saying it would have a 1.6-liter petrol engine and two electric motors, not to mention their powers. However, L'Automobile Magazine published additional information from Renault officials present at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Thus, the 1.6-liter petrol unit will have 90 horsepower, while the main electric motor will generate the equivalent of 70 horsepower, and the second electric motor about 30 horsepower. In total, the PHEV propulsion system will have about 160 horsepower. Details about the battery are already known since the official presentation. This will have a capacity of 9.8 kWh and will provide a range of 45 km in electric mode (WLTP) in mixed mode or 65 km in urban area. The PHEV version will be widely known as the official E-Tech Plug-in, mirroring the hybrid, non-charging version of the E-Tech socket available on the new Clio. On the other hand, the quoted source claims that the plug-in hybrid system of the new Captur will also be available on the Renault Megane facelift, which will be officially presented in the next period. In fact, the international press has been speculating since spring this year that Megane will also receive a PHEV version along with the facelift.
