Akrapovic Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 The US Environmental Protection Agency has confirmed the existence of a Ducati Multistrada 1260 GT, along with the rest of the Ducati range. The acronym of the motorcycle and its size and weight characteristics indicate that -at least this- is a V2 and not a V4, a motorcycle that we know is under development. This motorcycle will possibly replace the Multistrada Pikes Peak. The denomination indicates that it would be a trail totally focused on asphalt, in the style of the BMW S1000XR. With built-in radar KTM has been collaborating with Bosch for some time to incorporate a radar system that is capable of detecting vehicles that are out of sight of the driver, in addition to other functions. Ducati is also working on this technology for 5 years and wants to be a pioneer in this area, so it would be mounted on this new MTS 1260. The Multistrada will have a radar unit both in front and behind. Obviously both radars will be much more hidden than in the prototype of the photos. In addition to detecting vehicles in blind spots of vision, it would also serve to adjust the cruise speed to traffic. : "With radar systems, we strive to be the first and we must succeed," Pierluigi Zampieri, Vehicle Innovation Manager at Ducati in February, told MCN. «We were the first to start this research with a university [in 2014] and now we are trying to be the first to bring it to the market. We do not want to go in tow of the others ». It is possible then that the new Multistrada V4 is a more radical model - the style of the Yamaha Tracer 900 - and that the V2 range occupies the most route side. In this way the GT may come already equipped with suitcases, electronic suspensions and all the essential gadgets. The EICMA of Milan, in two months, will get us out of doubt.
