Angrry.exe™
The platform dedicated to the general public of Intel has not had much love lately. Sure, that i9 9900K is a great processor, great and all, but in some productivity applications it tends to be crushed by some existing Ryzen 3000 processors, and the 16-core one will suck the knife further into the wound. Intel still doesn't have a 10 nanometer answer for the Ryzen 3000 series, and it doesn't look like it will have one next year. At least not at the beginning of the year. According to the latest rumors that have been circulating on the internet lately, the company is preparing at least one new Comet Lake-S processor on a new socket called the LGA 1200. The processor in question would have 10 cores, not being the first time such a rumor occurs. But this time we also have what appears to be a file with its main features. From here it turns out that it has a 125W TDP. Having a new socket, it also has a new chipset, the 400 series, but not one that seems to have any significant improvement over the previous series. Okay, maybe with the exception of Thunderbolt 3. Otherwise, there are no surprises. PCI-Express 3, the same architecture known from Skylake, the same integrated GPU, but 10 physical cores with 20 threads will surely bring remarkable performance boost to many applications. I just hope that it will not be sacrificed much of the frequency to keep the energy consumption and heat production under control.
