Angrry.exe™
One of the biggest changes to the Vista and 7 interface is the inability to add the Computer Description as a column to the network folder. Lots of organizations use it for inventory number, service tag, etc ... In the image below you can see how Windows XP shows us the computers on the network. column "Name" -> The name of the NetBIOS / DNS computer the column "Comments" -> The "Computer Description" field found in the System -> Computer name Here is the corresponding image from Vista / 7: You can try anything ... you will still not be able to add the Computer Description column The solution: Copy a shortcut from Windows XP to your computer running Windows Vista / 7. Follow the steps below to get the shortcut (these are done on a Windows XP computer): 1. Open My Network Places 2. Open Entire Network 3. Go to Microsoft Windows Network. 4. Drag the Workgroup or Domain icon to the Desktop to create a shortcut to it. 5. Copy the shortcut to your Windows 7 computer. 6. Open the shortcut and you will have a window similar to the one in Windows XP in which the Commnents column contains the Computer Description.
