The Vizcarra government gave the green light to this mining project a few weeks after its environmental impact study (EIA) expired, which was not effective on August 1.

The regional governor of Arequipa, Elmer Cáceres Llica, rejected that the Executive has given such authorization, because “the necessary dialogue mechanism with the po[CENSORED]tion of the Tambo Valley has not been established,” and asked President Vizcarra to travel to the area so that Know the position of citizens.
