Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo  is a Greek basketball player of Nigerian descent who belongs to the squad of the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA. With 2.11 meters high, he plays in the pivot-wing position, but due to his characteristics he is able to play both forward and pivot.

On June 25, 2019, he was named MVP of the 2018-19 NBA season.2

His brothers Thanasis (n. 1992) and Kostas (n. 1997) are also basketball players

Biography
Antetokounmpo was born in Athens, Greece, and is the son of Nigerian immigrants residing in Greece. Despite this, he does not have Nigerian citizenship. Giannis and his family officially gained full Greek citizenship on May 9, 2013, with the official legal spelling of his name being Antetokounmpo.

As a child, he was sometimes a street vendor along with his brother Thanasis to contribute financially to the maintenance of his house: "I will always take that with me. It's how I learned to work like this." 3

His older brother, Thanasis, is also a professional basketball player who was selected in the 51st position of the 2014 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. His nickname is "The Greek Freak 2".

His younger brother, Kostas, is also a professional basketball player and was chosen in the sixtieth and final position of the 2018 NBA Draft by Philadelphia 76ers, 4 but that same night he was transferred to the Dallas Mavericks.5

He has two other brothers: Francis, who has never played basketball, and Alex (n. 2003), the latter child basketball player.

He began his professional career with only 17 years, at Filathlitikos B.C. of the second Greek division, alternating his appearances with those he had in the junior team. He played a season in which he averaged 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game

He was chosen in the fifteenth position of the 2013 NBA Draft by Milwaukee Bucks, 9 team with which he signed in late July.10

On May 22, 2014, Antetokounmpo was chosen in the second best rookie quintet in the NBA in the 2013-14.11 season

In the 2014-2015 season he improved his numbers with respect to the previous season becoming one of the best young players in the entire league, he was invited to the All Star Weekend to participate in the Mates Contest and thanks to his leadership he helped the Bucks allowed to reach the Playoffs but fell defeated against the Chicago Bulls in the first round with a 4-2 run

In the 2015-16 season, as a franchise player, he became one of the best eaves in the league averaging 16.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists. A curious fact was that Antetokounmpo played in all positions in that season.
