Members of the Security Council discussed on Friday the progress of the peace process in Colombia and could not let go of the delicacy they discovered.

It is about the tree tomato, whose juice is frequent subject of discussions between its lovers and detractors in social networks.

The permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations, Vasili Nebenzia, for example, showed interest in importing it to his country and encouraged the European Union to do so too.

Diplomats from the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Equatorial Guinea praised its flavor as well.

All of them were part of the Security Council delegation that met with ex-combatants and political representatives of the FARC and civil society, both in Bogotá and in the areas affected by the conflict, between July 11 and 14.

The United Kingdom's deputy representative at the UN, Johathan Allen, explained that they had that experience during their visit to the Territorial Training and Reintegration Space (ETCR) of Santa Rosa, in Caldono, Cauca. Allen praised "the quality of the project" and also the tree tomatoes that could "consume directly."

"The tree tomato production project allowed the Council to see how agriculture is a central part of the reintegration of ex-combatants," Allen added.
The British diplomat stressed that the members of this plan "are proud of what they have achieved in 6 months and are beginning to think about selling beyond the local market to supermarkets and national and international distribution channels."
