Akrapovic Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 The artist, a reference in contemporary pop art, has been inspired by the well-known brand of automobiles to create one of his well-known polyhedral meninas with, in addition, charitable purposes. Art, modernity and solidarity meet for what promises to be one of the summer's artistic events, which comes from the hand of Felipe García-Bañón Sanz-Briz, known by the artistic name of Felipao, a reference in the world of pop art. Inspired by the DS Automobiles brand and the artistic perspectives of the design of its vehicles, it has created one of its known polyhedral meninas, the most ambitious and special and with a solidary purpose: "It is elegant and sophisticated and its passion for taking care of details is something very interesting The interior finishes, with their exquisite treatment of the textures and the use of surprising materials in the automotive world is a source of inspiration ". An inspiration that comes in the form of fiberglass sculpture, with a height of 1.65 meters and composed of 448 polyhedral faces, which highlight the nuances of the 'millennial' blue color in which it is made. The use of color, together with the technique and the projection of light, is one of the hallmarks of the artist. The part of the skirt has been designed fusing the DS pattern and some of the techniques typical of the automotive world with the polyhedral figures that compose it. It is a unique work of art, resistant to the sun and the inclemency of the weather thanks to the type of paint and a double layer of lacquer. This sculpture is part of an itinerant exhibition that can already be seen in the DS Store in Madrid, on Doctor Esquerdo Street 62. From there it will travel to Barcelona on July 18, and then stop in Santander, Alicante and Malaga. Along with the Menina DS, you can enjoy other works of Felipao, some of them also inspired by the automotive world and the identity of the DS brand: fusion of modernity and tradition, laboratory materials and ancestral techniques that represent a new milestone in the world of creation. At the end of his particular 'tour' in Spain, the artwork will be auctioned for charity in favor of the CRIS Foundation against Cancer through the auction platform Balcis, at a starting price of 14,000 euros, at www. .balclis.com / en / auction-in-benefit-to-the-foundation-cris /. This foundation focuses its efforts on the promotion and development of research against this disease. Currently, he supports studies on several types of cancer in the main hospitals and research centers of our country, so the lucky owner of the Menina DS will also enjoy the satisfaction of having collaborated for a more than important cause. 1
