Vehicles trapped and traffic congestion due to landslide in Antioquia

On the road that leads to the Coast, in the sector of Windows, work progress to remove material.

A difficult situation of mobility is lived this Saturday first of June, in the road that leads from Antioquia to the Coast, due to a landslide that occurred in the Llanos del Cuivá - Tarazá sector, at kilometer 47 + 800 and 48 + 00 , in the area known as Ventanas. The detachment of material occurred at about 9 p.m. m. this Friday and since then the road has total closure.

There, the fall of a tree and the sliding stones and mud have completely closed the road, to which the heavy rains are added. This has led to a large number of vehicles being dammed.

In the night, explained Jader Gómez, commander of Valdivia Fire, at least 25 vehicles were trapped by the material that fell from the mountain, however, there were no injured people and almost all the occupants of the most affected vehicles managed to get out by your means.

A young man who tried to help a relative to leave was injured, but after being treated by the firemen it was found that he had no injuries that deserved to send him to a hospital.

At this moment, the authorities work with Invías with the necessary machinery to remove the material. We still do not have an established opening hour, although it is expected that towards the end of the afternoon or, failing that, on Sunday morning, the road will be given, said Gómez.
The fire captain recalled that in this area of the road, there have historically been many problems due to collapse of the bank and landslides of the mountain, due to a geological fault, especially in the sectors known as Ventanas, La Frisolera, El Pital and India

On the afternoon of this Saturday, the firefighters of Valdivia resume monitoring in the area with other authorities and will study the damages that could have suffered between four and six homes that remain in the sector.

But that is not the only way the department affected this festive bridge. According to information from the Highway Police of Antioquia, in Amagá, in the La Mansa - Primavera highway, at kilometer 78 and 79, in the sector known as La Huesera, one lane is presented.

For its part, on the Dabeiba - Santa Fe de Antioquia road, at kilometer 16 + 500, Meloneras sector (old road) between the municipalities of San Jerónimo and Sopetrán, there is closure due to the fall of land and vegetation.

Also, in Titiribí, on the La Mansa-Primavera road, at kilometer 59 + 600, Sinifaná sector, there is total closure of the road due to the fall of rocky material, mud and vegetation, which caused the destruction of the road.

The authorities recommend that drivers who go to the Coast comply with the recommendations of traffic officials and use as an alternative the route to the West by Urabá.

Meanwhile, on the festive bridge, from midnight on Friday, May 31 to the morning of Saturday, June 1, there was a traffic incident in the department, which left one injured and one dead. Likewise, 46 subpoenas were applied and 13 vehicles were immobilized.

In the department, there are 20 areas of prevention and road control, where strong controls are made to check driving in drunkenness, speeding and dangerous maneuvers.
