On sale: Late 2019 | Price from: £163,000 If you can afford to shop at the very top of the sports car market, the name McLaren will likely be very familiar to you. The British marque sits alongside the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin in creating some of the most exciting (and expensive) cars in existence. It has had success at the What Car? Awards, too, with the 570S Coupé winning our top price point in the sports car category this year. And now there's an all-new model joining the range. Named the McLaren GT, it is of course a grand tourer – the kind of car that can whisk you down to the south of France in luxury and comfort, put in a hard session at the race track and then get you back home in time for Antiques Roadshow. 2019 McLaren GT engine Clearly, any car that can do all that is going to need a mighty engine at its core, and powering the GT is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre petrol V8. With 612bhp available to the rear wheels, it's capable of hitting 62mph from a standing start in 3.2sec and will keep accelerating on to 203mph. As you might expect, too, its emissions and fuel economy are somewhat eye-watering – 245g/km of CO2 and 23.7mpg. A seven-speed automatic gearbox is standard. 2019 McLaren GT price Prices for the GT start from £163,000, but it's worth noting that most customers at this end of the market will go far beyond that, with options to personalise their cars quickly adding up.
