This was the message that President Ivan Duque sent about the recapture of Jesus Santrich.

For President Iván Duque, "the administration of Justice has acted with force against this criminal act." This was said this Friday night, as a reaction to the recapture of former commander of the Farc Jesus Santrich, who was released for a few minutes and then was apprehended again.

Duque said that his responsibility towards the latest events, as Head of State, is "the preservation of the institutional soundness of the Rule of Law."

In his message, he insisted on the punishment of reoccurrence in which those who, having laid down their arms, commit new crimes may fall. This, he said, "constitutes a slap in the face of the victims and the construction of peace."
The President, also, reiterated a message that he has launched several times since the beginning of his mandate, last year:

"Let there be no doubt that all the people who have genuinely abandoned the path of violence and remain in their process of reintegration will receive the support and guarantees of the State, but those who reoffend in criminal activities should receive the full weight of the law, "he said.
