Two-year sanction against Tyreke Evans for violating anti-doping rules

The NBA has suspended Indiana Pacers player Tyreke Evans for two seasons. The base, 29 years old and rookie of the year in 2010, has violated the rules of the anti-drug program established by the League and the Players Association. According to the regulations, you can request your re-entry into the competition within two years.

According to current regulations, a player can be dismissed and disqualified from the League for giving positive or if he is found guilty or pleads guilty to the use, possession or distribution of drugs.

    

Among the players who have been suspended in accordance with this regulation, the most recent cases have been the O.J. May and Chris Andersen. In March 2017, Joakim Noah was suspended with 20 games for doping and in April 2014, he also received the same sanction Nick Calathes. Formerly Roy Tarpley, Richard Dumas, Micheal Ray Richardson, Lewis Lloyd, Duane Washington and Stanley Roberts were also sanctioned. Many of them, once the sanction was completed, returned to play in the NBA.

Evans, number four of the 'draft' of 2009, played four seasons in Sacramento, three and a half in New Orleans, returned during half season to Sacramento, another in Memphis and in July 2018 signed a contract with Indiana for one season and 12, 4 million dollars. He has played 69 games with the Pacers and has averaged 10.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 20.3 minutes. This season he became a free agent.

The Pacers, after being informed of the sanction to Evans, explained through a statement: "We take these matters seriously and we will contact Tyreke to offer our support." A player can only be reincorporated with the approval of both the NBA and the players association.

Evans was ejected from a game early in the season for violating the team's rules and issued an apology for being late for a workout. He also missed three games for personal reasons and a respiratory infection.
