Trujillo: newborn baby was abandoned in hospital bathroom

A newborn baby was abandoned in the bathroom of the hospital Santa Isabel, in the city of Trujillo. The whereabouts of the mother are still unknown, so the baby is taken care of by the doctors of the institution.

"It was found in the bathroom, the medical staff came in and they did the evaluation. They have taken her for evaluation by the pediatrician and the girl is stable. She has already joined the SIS, she has guaranteed coverage for all of her care and she has been hospitalized for observation, "said doctor Jorge Ortiz Castillo, representative of the hospital.

The doctor explained that the girl is more than 3 kilos and 400 grams, and measures 52 centimeters. According to the doctor, are favorable conditions for it to develop normally, although for now only feed with formula milk.

                                             

The police arrived at the place to inform the Public Ministry. According to the authorities, it would be an abandonment. "They have to investigate, see in the mothers' medical histories and there to be able to locate their mom," said Ortiz Castillo.

To guarantee the benefits of the SIS, the doctor Jorge Ortiz Castillo had a generous act and gave him the surnames and the name of his mother.

The Family Prosecutor's Office will decide the fate of the girl. Currently, the whereabouts of the mother is unknown, but meanwhile, the doctors say they will give her the best care.
