Angrry.exe™
5G technology enters the market with shy steps, and the first 5G smartphones will reach this year on just a few select markets. 5G Functional Infrastructure currently exists only in South Korea and the United States. That's why Qualcomm has not so far included SoGs with an integrated 5G modem, preferring to offer Snapdragon 855 SoC manufacturers and an external Snapdragon X50 modem. The next-generation Qualcomm chipset next year will have an integrated 5G modem. I'm not very convinced that the technology will reach a penetration rate high enough to justify the much higher chipsets, but adoption must start somewhere. Along with this announcement came the launch of a new 5G modem called Snapdragon X55. The modem promises transfer rates of up to 7 Gbps through 5G (mmWave) and up to 2.5 Gbps through 4G. I personally am not very confident about this technology.
