Dark Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 It smells classic but tastes new. Metroid returns with Samus Returns this September 15 for 3DS and does so with the will and potential to respond to expectations. It's not easy: the announcement of the remake of the Game Boy game with Spanish signature was one of the most applauded of the past E3. Nintendo has trusted MercurySteam for this bet and the analysis shows that things have gone well. But the meaning of the launch goes further. Metroid is one of the great representatives of the industry. And not only for being a pioneer in having a woman protagonist, something that is currently becoming more and more important, like these characters, with a strong character. Yoshio Sakamoto, father of the saga, did not even "have thought of that" when he designed the game. In an interview with EL ESPAÑOL, he confessed that he does not usually "think about that kind of thing, if having done it first has been an inspiration, I'm glad". At the height of other great Samus Returns was announced last June at the E3 Treehouse, minutes after Prime 4, Metroid's first person shooter. The two news stories won the applause of fans of the saga. It is a franchise perhaps less known in numerical terms than others of Nintendo, but no less wanted. What is it that has prevented Samus from sharing the limelight with Mario or Link, from the Zelda franchise, the most famous of 'the big N'? The fact that it has a higher level of difficulty, and a darker style has had a lot to do with it. To have as inspiration to a movie like Alien is not for everyone. It is, as its creator says, "a different face of Nintendo". Sakamoto believes that "it may be that personality so marked, that science fiction, what has prevented it from being a title as open as others and that it reaches so high in consequence. We always want to give the best to the public and within the range in which We have done everything possible and we have done well to give it to him, for me the acceptance of a video game can not be measured only in the number of people but in the level of satisfaction of those who play it. Precisely those followers are those who, for the creator of Metroid, make the saga special: "Our fans are very loyal, any announcement causes them to make noise and have repercussion." MercurySteam: "It's something that's cool for us, we like big challenges" One of those faithful confessed followers is José Luis Márquez, creative director of the game. The MercurySteam member explains that for him it is both an honor and a responsibility to work in such a historic and emblematic saga: "It is a great honor that Nintendo has trusted us, we have not felt pressure, we are used to it. Castlevania and it's something that we love, we like the great challenges and surpass ourselves, it makes us a tremendous illusion and we have the desire to do things very well ". Mercury's work in the game demonstrates this enthusiasm and affection. Respect for detail does not prevent the inclusion of new features and, despite the fear of some, they work perfectly. The counterattack fits so well that it seems like it was always there. For the original title, launched in 1991, the years have passed. With this version it has been rejuvenated in all aspects. This installment, which is launched for one of the consoles with the most market, has everything to gain new followers. Rediscovering the game It was a challenge to tell the same thing that the original did with the current techniques. Márquez believes that "visual and traditional narrative can coexist, making things better, with a more grandiose staging, one thing does not take away the other." In addition to this there are more news: "We have announced a new enemy that was not in the original game and we wanted to surprise both the classic players and the new ones, it's a way for Samus to feel a dangerous presence on the planet. the adventure and it causes changes in the rhythm of the game here and there, making things a little different, this enemy appears several times in different places doing different things ". 1
