NANO
Metroid Prime 4 is an upcoming first person action-adventure game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. A part of the Metroid series, it will be the fourth main installment in the Metroid Prime series and a sequel to 2007's Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Announced at E3 2017 and rumored to be under the development of Bandai Namco Studios, progress on Prime 4 was later scrapped and restarted in January 2019, and is being handled by Retro Studios alongside producer Kensuke Tanabe. Development The game was briefly revealed by Nintendo on June 13, 2017, during their E3 2017 online showcase, showing only an image of the game's logo. A short while after the announcement, Bill Trinen, director of marketing at Nintendo of America, had confirmed that Prime 4 would not be developed by Retro Studios, the studio that originally developed the Metroid Prime series, but would still be headed by producer of the first three games in the series, Kensuke Tanabe.Throughout late 2017, it was rumored that development would instead be headed by Bandai Namco Studios in Singapore, which was later confirmed by Eurogamer in early 2018.On several occasions during 2018, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé had stated that Metroid Prime 4 was "well into development" and "proceeding well". Despite this, however, Nintendo announced that the game would not show up at E3 2018, and would only share more information on it once they believed they "had something that would wow people".In a video released on January 25, 2019, Nintendo EPD general manager Shinya Takahashi announced that Metroid Prime 4 would be delayed, and its development had been restarted from scratch, with original series developer Retro Studios returning to develop the game. Takahashi stated that the development progress on the game did not meet Nintendo's standards and the company had decided to re-examine and change the development structure.Nintendo's shares fell by 2.8 percent the week following the delay announcement.
