One of the most troublesome aspects of Windows 10-powered tablets and laptops is their tendency to lose battery life as we install applications running in the background, consuming memory and processor resources.

While Android and other mobile operating systems can directly request applications to suspend activity when not directly used, Microsoft is trying to solve the problem of poorly optimized Windows applications by limiting the processor resources available to them. Although effective, the mechanism has the potential to prevent proper functionality and user-friendly applications, blocking email reception, social network notifications, or background music playback.

To avoid such unpleasant situations, Microsoft is currently testing the new feature with a pre-release version of Windows 10, and the official announcement will come at a later date.

It is to be known that the new application backdrop function requires hardware support, only PC systems and laptops equipped with at least sixth-generation Intel Core processors can use the new improved energy-saving scheme.
