The McLaren F1 is a super sports car developed by the British company McLaren Automotive (belonging to the McLaren group with the McLaren team of Formula 1) by designer Gordon Murray. The first unit was produced in 1992, and the last in 1998. A total of 106 units were assembled: 64 "normal" units, 6 LM, 3 GT and 29 GTR units. The competition versions participated in the 24 hours of Le Mans (being the first car to win the race in its debut), the Japanese Grand Touring Championship and the FIA GT Championship.

It has a 6.1 liter displacement gasoline engine, 12 cylinders in 60 ° V and four valves per cylinder, located in longitudinal rear center position and developed by BMW. It delivers a power of 635 hp at 7,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 649 Nm at 5,600 rpm. Its chassis is a carbon fiber monocoque, and titanium, magnesium, kevlar and gold are also used in numerous components. It weighs 1,142 kg and accelerates from 0 to 60 miles / h (0-97 km / h) in 3.2 seconds.1

The McLaren F1 is relatively small compared to other supercars. It has three seats: the driver is located in the center of the car, and the two passengers are located on the sides and a little further back. This is unique among the supercars.

The small team of Gordon Murray designed 5 000 pieces that were mostly made of carbon fiber, magnesium and titanium to minimize weight. The engine produces a lot of heat, so the air conditioning comes standard and the engine compartment is covered with a gold foil.2

The engine is cooled by an upper air intake and two laterals in the car doors that favor the breathing of the engine.

It does not have any help in driving, such as traction control, ABS, assisted brakes or power steering.

The car incorporates a modem that sends data directly to McLaren. Thus it was learned that a German customer reached 322 km / h (200 mph) almost daily on his trips to work.

The purchase included:

    A light stereo radio
A set of suitcases made to measure.
A complete toolbox for use by McLaren mechanics in case they had to travel to repair the customer's car.
