The Audi Q8 is a model derived from the Q7, but visually has different proportions, windows without a frame and an interior presentation with some variations. Its price is 84 840 euros (price, equipment and data sheet).

It measures 4.99 meters in length, 2.0 meters in width (which is a lot and can be an inconvenience in town, for example) and 1.71 meters in height. Therefore it is shorter, wider and lower than the Q7 (it measures 5.1, 1.97 and 1.74 meters, respectively).

The interior is spacious for four occupants, but it is much less suitable than a Q7 for five due to the small size of the central square (something that also happens in the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé, its two main alternatives) . The trunk is not particularly large (it has 605 liters, while the five-seat Q7 has one of 890). Optionally, the rear seats can move 10 centimeters on a rail (image).

The Q8 has some of the solutions that Audi has recently introduced in its more expensive models (and that does not have the Q7, since its launch was in 2015, but the A7 Sportback) as a touch screen to control the air conditioner (among others functions, image). It also has a 48 volt electrical network with several functions, among them, allowing a light hybridization, which does not have the Q7, but the SQ7 does.

The Q8 remains a step below the A8 2018 (which is currently the most advanced Audi model) in terms of technical solutions and equipment. Thus, the Q8 can not have laser headlights, OLED pilots or a suspension with predictive function. Its structure is made of various types of aluminum and steel, but it has no carbon fiber or magnesium parts, materials that we found in the A8 (more information on the chassis and the suspension of the Audi A8 2018).

The only version available in Spain at present is the 50 TDI quattro (it has a diesel engine of 3.0 liters and 286 hp and an electric one, which makes both starter motor (although for cold starts an engine is maintained normal start), as an electric generator The gearbox is automatic eight relations.During the first half of 2019 will come a diesel version of 231 hp (45 TDI) and a petrol 340 hp (55 TFSI). The Audi Q8 50 TDI is more expensive than a BMW X6 258 hp and costs almost the same as a Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe 258 hp and a Maserati Levante 275 hp (comparison chart). Another alternative is the Porsche Cayenne, although you can only choose with gasoline engines and, therefore, will compete with the future Q8 55 TFSI.
