How to set up RO-ALERT, the service that could save your life in Romania

The Department for Emergency Situations has set up the new alert service, so you should know how to set up RO-ALERT.

The tests of the RO-ALERT service started on September 17 in Onesti. In the next period, new areas will be announced daily for such tests.

To get these alerts on your phone, you'll need to make some settings on your smartphone. Configuration is not a complex process, but if you want to find out how to set up RO-ALERT, you need to start with your mobile operator (except for the iOS devices you are about to end up with)

How do you set up RO-ALERT on Digi Mobil?

Digi Mobil has provided a list of about 35 phones that are compatible with the alert service, and here are models of Samsung, Huawei, Motorola or Apple, among others.

Each of the phone brands seems to have a different configuration than the others, so it's impossible to apply the same guide for Samsung and Motorola, for example.

How do you set up RO-ALERT in the Telekom network?

Telekom has a slightly larger list of RO-ALERT compatible phones. As with Digi, you have more or less different configuration steps.

Differences between phone models of the same operator are sometimes non-existent, but from one producer to another there are changes. So, it's best to check the list proposed by the operator to see exactly what to do.

How do you set up RO-ALERT at Vodafone?

Those from Vodafone seem to have worked less with RO-ALERT, at least as far as you can tell from the operator's page.

On the official service page, you will find two helpful links if you have a phone that you use a Vodafone card or subscription. The first one will send you to an external page.

You will be redirected to the Vodafone website, which has a dedicated phone configuration section. They offer you an easy menu, from which you first choose the manufacturer, then the phone model.

The second link contains an Excel document with some more information about the list of compatible phones. However, the link to the operator's site may be more than sufficient.

How do you set up RO-ALERT on the Orange network?

If Vodafone seems to have preferred to create a page on their own website about activating and configuring the service, Orange offers you only an Excel document, where you can find compatible phones and sometimes configuration information.

How do you set up RO-ALERT if you have a iOS device?

It seems that RO-ALERT services need to be configured differently if you have an Apple product. So, on the RO-ALERT page, you can go to a page on the official Apple site.
