[Tutorial] How to recover the full URL in Google Chrome 69

With the arrival of Chrome 69, the Google browser stopped showing the full URL of the web pages you visit in the address bar. If this change is uncomfortable, we tell you what you can do to see it again.

It is no secret that Google wants to eliminate URLs in the medium term, although it still does not know how it is going to do it. With the launch of Chrome 69 on September 4, the Mountain View company took a first step in this direction by uploading full web addresses.

As a consequence, by default the latest version of the browser does not show either the "www" or the ".m" in the address bar, so if you want to see the full URL it is necessary to select it and copy it in another site.

If this modification is uncomfortable and you would like to recover the full web address in Chrome 69, you have an alternative to do it in a quick and easy way. For this you have to access Flags, the experimental customization options of the Google browser.

If you have never entered Flags, all you have to do to access these options is to type in the chrome: // flags address bar. Then, use the search engine at the top and type Omnibox UI Hide Steady-State URL Scheme and Trivial Subdomains. If you prefer, you can also directly copy this text in the address bar: chrome: // flags / # omnibox-ui-hide-steady-state-url-scheme-and-subdomains.

 

Next, select the Disabled option in the dropdown, as you can see in the image, and then click on the Relaunch now button to apply the changes and re-launch the browser. From now on you will return to see normally the complete address of the web pages, as before installing Chrome 69.

Whenever you use Chrome Flags you have to keep in mind that these are experimental features, and in some cases they can cause data loss or compromise security or privacy. However, in this case it is a minimum adjustment that does not involve any risk.
