The Venezuelan delegation traveled to Barranquilla, Colombia, to participate in the sports competition that will end on August 3, in which 5,424 athletes from 37 countries of the continent will participate. In the last edition of Veracruz 2014, the Venezuelan delegation had a total of 546 athletes who participated in 33 disciplines. On that occasion, Venezuela reached the fourth place in the medal table with 245 medals (56 gold, 79 silver and 110 bronze). The swimming team ratified its status as Central American and Caribbean champion, after achieving a total of 32 medals, of which 16 were gold, matching the Mayagüez 2010 games harvest. The fencing added 12 preseas, five gilded in Veracruz, to be titled champion of the discipline.
