A new earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale has shaken the western coast of Mexico today, February 19.
According to the National Seismological Service of Mexico, the earthquake occurred at 00:56 hours (local time) in the state of Oaxaca, 36 km from San Miguel Panixtlahuaca, and near Puerto Escondido.
In addition, the quake has had the hypocenter at 10 km depth and has been felt even in the Mexican capital, 320 km away.
As reported by Luis Felipe Puente, national coordinator of Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior, there has been no record of damages or victims.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has indicated on Twitter that Civil Protection "activated its protocols and is in contact with local authorities."

As of 01:30 today (local time), 1977 replicas of the 7.2 earthquake of the past 17 have been counted, the strongest recorded at 00:56.
