More than a hundred people remain trapped in several buildings destroyed by a magnitude 6.4 earthquake that has shaken the island of Taiwan, according to authorities on the island. One of the most damaged buildings is the Tongshuai Hotel, in addition to the Hualien National Hospital, which has been partially tilted after the quake. In Hualien - the most affected locality - streets, avenues, roads and infrastructure in general are damaged, with cracks in the roadways, the smell of gas in the streets and interrupted traffic on the Su Hua highway and the Hualien bridge. Elsewhere on the island, especially in the Yilan district and New Taipei, there are also damaged buildings, with no specific data on trapped people. The earthquake has occurred at 23:50 local time (16:50 in Euskadi) and has had its epicenter 18.3 kilometers north-northeast of Hualien, next to the Pacific Ocean, said the Central Office of Meteorology. This organism has indicated that before this earthquake had registered 94 earthquakes in the previous 24 hours and, last Sunday, one of 5.8 magnitude on the Richter scale.
