Have you received a message in recent days that Spotify is donating premium accounts for one year? If the answer is affirmative, delete it as soon as possible and do not share it because it is a new WhatsApp scam.

The National Police has been in charge of giving the alarm through their official Twitter account. The security body states that the streaming music platform is not "donating" anything, and that the only objective pursued by this message is to deceive victims to steal their data, install malware on their mobile phones or subscribe to services SMS Premium.

The tweet in which the Police has published the warning has quickly registered the response of many users who have received the WhatsApp message with the malicious link. Different variants are being extended with different text (some people have even received it in English), but all of them contain the same link, which has been created with the aim of appearing legitimate and deceiving the victims. The URL has the HTTPS protocol to look safe, and the integration of spotify-us and premium words can confuse unsuspecting users.

In case of following the link, the victim accesses a false survey in which he has to answer two simple questions. Once this is done, the system indicates that you have won a premium account for Spotify for free, but to activate it you must share the message with 30 WhatsApp contacts.

As you may have guessed, sharing the message will not do you any good and, far from getting a free premium subscription for Spotify, you run the risk of the attackers stealing your personal data to subscribe to SMS Premium services or to install malware in the device.

These are the most common WhatsApp scams. Do not chew!
Always stay alert to detect these types of messages, because this type of WhatsApp scam is a fairly common strategy. Do not follow this type of links even if you trust the person who sent it to you and distrust whenever you see gifts or prizes that are very easy to obtain.
