OyaYansa
Taringa, the po[CENSORED]r social network of Argentine origin, has been hacked, so if you have an account we recommend that you change your password as soon as possible. According to a report published by The Hacker News, the platform has been the victim of a massive violation that has compromised the data of more than 28 million accounts. LeakBase, a service of notifications of this type of security violations, has gone the one in charge of giving the voice of alarm, alerting that has obtained a copy of the database hacked of Taringa. As they explain, there are a total of 28,722,877 records that include user name, email address and password of users. The Hacker News report notes that the algorithm used by the user data encryption platform, called MD5, is outdated since before 2012 and can be broken very easily. It is so weak that the LeakBase team has been able to decipher more than 93% of the records (almost 27 million) in just a few days. To check the accuracy of the database, researchers have contacted some random users by email indicating their password, and all of them have confirmed that it is effectively the credentials of their accounts. Since Taringa have confirmed the attack through a post and ensure that they are taking appropriate measures to protect users, such as forcing the reset of passwords for all accounts and use a more robust encryption system. The data obtained by LeakBase show the weakness of users when choosing a password, since the vast majority choose the most commonly used passwords. By analyzing the keys that have been filtered after the attack, the team has been able to verify that the most common are simple numerical series like 123456, 123456789 and 1234567890, the word "password" or names of soccer teams, among others traditionally habitual.
