The Windows ecosystem has suffered severe attacks in recent weeks with both the WannaCry ransomware and the Petya. While it is true that Windows 10 is a safer operating system and the only one that can stand up to these types of infections without emergency security patches, not everyone has their installation on the computer.

According to Reuters, both India and Microsoft are finalizing a deal to significantly reduce Windows 10 licenses in that country, and that as a result of the recent ransomware attacks. Currently in India 94% of computer users have a Windows system installed, but very few with Windows 10. This agreement could create a win-win relationship by which both players could be victorious.

Negotiations began following WannaCry's attacks, and the agreement would be close to being announced, local officials said. Currently the price of Windows 10 in India is $ 124 to change the Home version and $ 232 the pro version, a high amount for the socioeconomic level of the country.

The good news is that Microsoft could also be in talks with other countries around the world to offer a discount on the price of Windows 10, which could ease the transition to older operating system users. It should be remembered that the upgrade to Windows 10 was free for users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 during the first 12 months of the availability of the operating system.
