Loading
In light of Romania's proven expertise in cyber security, NATO asked Bucharest to help Ukraine build capabilities to protect its information technology and communications infrastructure against virtual attacks from the outside. Late last month, Romania's Superior National Defence Council approved a project drawn up at the NATO summit in Newport to entrust Romania with the leading role in multi-national efforts to assist Ukraine in fighting cyber-attacks amid a wider crisis in its separatist east. At the summit in Wales, Allies established "a comprehensive and tailored package of measures" to help Ukraine. The focus of NATO support will be on four areas -- rehabilitation for injured troops, cyber defence, logistics, command, control and communications. NATO's assistance to Ukraine to boost co-operation will amount to around 15 million euros, the Alliance said in a statement. "Ukraine has stood by NATO. Now in these difficult times, NATO stands by Ukraine," Alliance Secretary-General Anders Fogh-Rassmusen said. Ukraine has been targeted by a series of cyber attacks over the past months, which overlap with the separatist tensions in the east. The latest, in August, hit dozens of computers in Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk's office and at least 10 Ukrainian embassies abroad. All were infected with an espionage virus attributed to hackers linked with the Kremlin. Romania was designated leader-nation in the so-called Trust Fund in which NATO member states voluntarily participate to help Ukraine develop its cyber-security capabilities. These efforts will be co-ordinated by Romania's domestic intelligence service (SRI). "The expertise SRI has in the cyber-security area, appreciated both in projects in the country and within co-operation projects with NATO, has been the fundamental reason for CSAT's approval of our country's participation as a leader-nation," Sorin Sava, SRI spokesman, told SETimes. He added that Romania will work with Ukraine on defining the technical necessities and the architecture of a system designed to protect critical information technology and communications. "At the same time, another task of the leader-nation is to identify other NATO member states as contributors to the Fund so that together we can ensure the financial resources for the finalised project," Sava said. He added that Romania will be entrusted with the project management and training the Ukrainian specialists. Romanian experts said Romania's intelligence services' experience will benefit both Ukraine and NATO. "Romania's intelligence structures have passed various tests in their partnership with other intelligence services in NATO member states and now they have to prove, besides efforts on the Iraqi and Afghan fronts, reaching a complete professional maturity," Constantin Corneanu, director of the European Association of Geopolitical Studies, told SETimes. rusu--
If USA get involve in this fight beetwen Ukraine and Russia, Russia will push the trigger. Roumania, at NATO call, helps Ukraine to defends their informations , some of it are TopSecret. Of course, USA help Ukraine under our name and no dout that best "hackers from Roumania, USA an all around the world" are supporting Ukraine`s cyber intels. Annonymous are a solution, they allready announce that will fight against IS so there is a chance to see them beside Ukraine.
