As the PoGo, the Zip prints images of 5 x 8 cm using a paper called Zero Ink, which makes Zink Imaging. This paper does not require ink. Instead use a formula on paper containing crystals. Warming different areas of the paper in specific times and temperatures, the colors remain on paper. Polaroid said high quality result and gives the full range of colors, without using toners, printing inks or ink cartridges. The Zip measured 7.4 x 12 cms and weighs about 186 grams. It has a rechargeable battery and can print up to 25 photos on a single charge. It connects to the phone via Bluetooth or NFC and operated using the accompanying app, which is compatible with iOS or Android. The only physical control on the device is the power button.

The app allows users to select and edit images for printing. Users can adjust the brightness and contrast, among other parameters. You can also choose from 12 different filters, create "collages" and add stickers and emojis to images. You can print cards given a series of macho (templates) or secretly print mode, which prints only a single QR code and is only revealed when the app is used.
