In honour of the GT3 RS's TG Award, here are 10 gems that'll also play happily on a circuit Track days are a sure-fire way of getting your adrenaline shot while staying within the confines of the law, and a Porsche GT3 RS is often regarded as the perfect tool for the job. Coaxing every nth of aerodynamic tricky currently available to science and unleashing it in one ICE-powered bottle of fury, the 992-generation was fittingly crowned our Track Car of the Year for 2023. So in celebration of this wonderful division of hardcore cars, we’ve put together a list of used track-honed alternatives to the new GT3 RS that we believe would make the perfect foundation for newbies that are looking to get into racing. Strap in tight. Jaguar XKR-S Ditching the classy black dress for a battle-ready suit of armour is the Jaguar XKR-S and its supercharged 5.0-litre V8. This isn’t as methodically engineered as a GT3 RS, but that’s precisely why it’s a delight: it has the mechanical ingredients to help you thrive and a thunderous noise to make sure you’re heard doing it. BMW M3 GTS (E92) But if it’s properly old-school, back-to-basics pantomime you’re after, you’d be hard-pressed to pass by an E92 M3 in ‘GTS’ form. A Fire Orange-coloured, tail-happy European muscle car for the ages, the GTS combines brute force with deft finesse. And a massive wing. Mustn't forget the massive wing. Lotus Exige Series 3 It’s nigh impossible to put together a track special list and not have at least one entry that’s focused squarely on lightweight simplicity and slightly awkward ingress/egress procedures. And the first of these to make an entrance is the Lotus Exige Series 3. Lighter, faster and harder than what is an already-spirited car, Hethel’s boffins have used every rule in the book to create an all-action acrobat that Colin Chapman himself would be proud of. Ferrari F430 Scuderia Of the rarified track specials bred for duty in the stables of Maranello, the F430 Scuderia stands proud. Drivers have 503bhp and 347lb ft of torque to keep them company, but its greatest party trick is the window-smashing symphony it produces through the dual-exhaust system. Addictive isn't even the word. Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera But the Scuderia’s fellow native is just as pleasing to the ears. The Gallardo was the first production Lamborghini to feature a V10, and it’s a screamer. In Superleggera guise, the baby Lambo morphs into an exceptional track car able to deliver just the right balance of handling smarts and 'oh god this is terrifying'. McLaren MP4-12C Built to take on the giants of the industry including the Epson WorkForce WF-2750DWF and Samsung M2885FW, the McLaren MP4-12C went about the business of faxing in an entirely novel way. No, wait. Built with the lofty aim of launching McLaren Automotive as a supercar powerhouse, the MP4-12C - later renamed to 12C - took the fight right to Ferrari on its first swing. Also, it's probably the most comfortable car here, which is a pretty significant point. Nissan GT-R Nismo The safest option on this list, though not because it’s boring - quite the opposite, in fact: the GT-R is a freak when it comes to sticking to tarmac. And once the Nismo badge is applied, its ability to recalibrate your senses is taken to scary new heights. Plus, you get to call it 'Godzilla', which is always cool. Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Remember the days when big, V8-powered American muscle cars would struggle to get around corners and generally make a nuisance of themselves? Oh, how times change. The Shelby GT350R is a fine case in point. Super easy to drive on a day-to-day basis, but brutally tactile when you decide to stretch its legs. Ariel Atom 350R In essence, the Ariel Atom 350R is a toned down Formula 1 car with number plates. It’s the most hardcore entrant on this list, and for good reason: it weighs just 550kg. Even more intimidating Atoms do exist, but this relatively modest 350bhp version is the sweet spot for those looking to test the waters. Caterham 620R Something of an arch-rival to the Ariel Atom - at least in terms of philosophy. The Caterham 620R is just as freakishly fast and offers the open-top, engineering-comes-first methodology that sees it tip the scales at just 610kg. As a result it has a power-to-weight ratio of 508bhp-per-tonne. Eat light, is all the advice we can offer. https://www.topgear.com/car-news/2023-topgearcom-awards/10-best-used-track-cars-get-you-racing

Exeter made it two wins from their opening two Investec Champions Cup games after a superb victory over Munster at Sandy Park. Tries from Calvin Nash, Tom Ahern and Antoine Frisch helped Munster to a 19-10 lead at the break, with Dan Frost touching down for the hosts. Shane Daly's try stretched Munster's advantage before Exeter fought back for a bonus-point win. Ross Vintcent, Jack Dunne and Henry Slade went over for the Exeter tries. Munster's loss followed a 17-17 draw with Bayonne on the opening weekend and with pool games at Toulon and home to Northampton still to come, Christmas will be a lot less comfortable for Graham Rowntree's men. After a breathless start, it was Munster who struck first. A series of hard carries from the visitors drew in the Exeter defence before Craig Casey swung a looping pass out to the right wing to give Nash a simple run-in to score and Jack Crowley added the extras. Exeter responded well, working their way through several phases close to the line and it was hooker Frost who eventually burrowed his way over and Slade was accurate with the conversion to level the score. Munster gained the ascendency in the second quarter with some superb attacking rugby. A delicate Crowley crossfield kick into the arms of Ahern allowed the back row to sprint over the try-line to put his side ahead. A Slade penalty put the hosts briefly within touching distance, but Munster finished the first half on a high as centre Frisch finished a sweeping backs move and Crowley nailed the tricky conversion to give his side a nine-point lead at the break. Slade slotted an Exeter penalty to put his side briefly within touching distance, but Munster extended their advantage to 11 points with a well-taken try from Daly, securing a four-try bonus point. However, the game was far from over, with Exeter pummelling the visitors' line and Vintcent stretched over. Less than two minutes later, Dunne flipped the game on its head, scoring an opportunistic try to put his side in front after Nash misjudged a bouncing ball in his own 22. A dramatic 15 minutes followed and an intercept try from Slade in the dying seconds capped a superb victory for the English side. Baxter prasises team's 'massive character' Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter: "When Munster scored just after half-time, I looked at our players behind the posts and looking at their body language, I questioned whether they were shot, but they went on to show massive character. "We had to stay in the fight and take our opportunities as Munster have great tradition and were here to win. "They adopted a great attacking policy and it nearly succeeded in beating us." 'Munster world specialists in making life difficult for ourselves' Munster head coach Graham Rowntree: "I'm hugely frustrated and need to calm down and have another look at some of the crucial incidents. "We scored some cracking tries to get a bonus point and get on top of them but the game got away from us and it shows that the game is never over. "The third try from the bouncing ball was just crazy and was against the run of play. "As far as this competition is concerned, we'll see how the cards develop as we still have Toulon away and Northampton Saints at home, but we are the world specialists in making life difficult for ourselves." Line-ups Exeter: Wyatt; Woodburn, Slade, Hawkins, Hammersley; Skinner, Cairns; Sio, Frost, Painter, Tuima, Jenkins (capt), Pearson, Vermeulen, Fisilau. Replacements: Norey, Abuladze, Street, Dunne, Vintcent, Townsend, Devoto, O'Loughlin. Munster: Daly; Nash, Frisch, Nankivell, O'Brien; Crowley, Casey; Loughman, Barron, Archer, Coombes, Beirne (capt), Ahern, Hodnett, O'Donoghue. Replacements: Clarke, Wycherley, Jager, Gleeson, Kendellen, Murray, Scannell, O'Connor. https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/67726588

The first responders and locals are searching for the wounded as more bodies are believed to be under the rubble. At least 90 people have been killed and more than 100 injured in the latest Israeli attacks on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. The enclave’s Health Ministry said Sunday’s strikes hit a residential block belonging to the al-Barsh and Alwan families in the town of Jabalia, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported. Women and children were among the dead, with dozens still missing, Wafa said in its report. The first responders and locals were searching for the wounded and more bodies were believed to be under the rubble. Many of those injured, including children, were taken to nearby medical centres, which are already overwhelmed with patients. The son of Dawoud Shehab, the spokesman for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group, was among the dead, an official from the group told the Reuters news agency. “We believe the number of dead people under the rubble is huge but there is no way to remove the rubble and recover them because of the intensity of Israeli fire,” he said by phone. Medics in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah said at least 12 Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded, while in Rafah in the south, an Israeli air attack on a house left at least four people dead. About 19,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 7. Israel says 1,147 people were killed on its territory that day. Meanwhile, Israel has also ramped up its artillery shelling in southern Gaza, hitting the cities of Khan Younis and Rafah, where the majority of displaced Palestinians are sheltering. The stepping up of bombardments in the south has worsened the humanitarian situation, with starving people scrambling for food and water, grabbing them from aid trucks in desperation. Israel on Sunday said it will reopen the Karem Abu Salem Crossing in the east but it is unclear whether supplies have crossed through there yet. The United Nations estimates that 1.9 million people – about 80 percent of Gaza’s po[CENSORED]tion – have been displaced by the war. “I would not be surprised if people start dying of hunger, or a combination of hunger, disease, weak immunity,” said Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/12/17/at-least-90-killed-in-latest-israeli-attacks-on-gazas-jabalia-refugee-camp

Winfrey said she no longer believes her weight struggles are her fault. Oprah Winfrey has confirmed she is using a medication to help her maintain her weight loss, which she said has been a work in progress for the past two years. "I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing," Winfrey told People magazine. "The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for." She continued, "I'm absolutely done with the shaming from other people, and particularly myself." Winfrey, who will turn 70 in January, did not name the type of medication she is taking. Over the past year, use of drugs that can lead to weight loss, including Ozempic and Mounjaro, have skyrocketed in po[CENSORED]rity. Earlier this year, weight-loss focused companies including Noom and WeightWatchers -- the latter of which Winfrey owns stock in and sits on the board -- jumped into the obesity drugs market as well. Winfrey said she lost weight steadily over the past two years with a combination of diet and exercise, but had an "aha" moment on medication for weight loss this past summer, when she moderated a panel on weight for her Oprah Daily outlet. During the panel discussion, doctors and experts weighed in alongside Winfrey on the antiquated theory that weight loss is all about willpower. Winfrey said during the discussion that when she first heard about the growing po[CENSORED]rity of drugs used for weight loss, she thought of them as "the easy way out." Speaking to People, Winfrey said the discussion with doctors led her to change her mind. "I had the biggest 'aha' along with many people in that audience," she said. "I realized I'd been blaming myself all these years for being overweight, and I have a predisposition that no amount of willpower is going to control. Obesity is a disease. It's not about willpower -- it's about the brain." https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Wellness/oprah-winfrey-confirms-shes-weight-loss-medication-shes/story?id=105631132

The UK's only two giant pandas leave Edinburgh Zoo later, heading back to China at the end of their 12-year loan. The zoo has always known that Yang Guang and Tian Tian would eventually be sent home and preparations have been under way for years. The initial 10-year loan was extended by two years but now the 20-year-old pandas, who have become a major visitor attraction, are about to head to Sichuan province. "There's a whole lot of logistics that have to happen,'' says Darren McGarry, head of living collections at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), which runs the zoo. It has spent a long time making complex arrangements to safely send the pandas to the China Wildlife Conservation Association base at Chengdu. Mr McGarry says the pair have been in quarantine for several weeks to comply with animal health regulations, as agreed with the UK and Chinese governments. The pandas have regular vet checks, including blood and faecal sampling, to ensure they are healthy and do not take any disease into China. They have been getting used to their new crates, built for their flight to China by the zoo's blacksmith, Rab Clark. He has constructed two bespoke metal crates complete with sliding padlock doors, pee trays and removable screens so the keepers can check on them during the flight. "The keepers tell me what they're looking for and what's required so we work as a team to see what's best for the animal," Mr Clark says. The crates are 190cm long, 146cm high and 127cm wide - roughly 6ft by 5ft by 4ft. "Although they look small," Mr Clark says, "there's actually quite a bit of room for them inside, it's not tight. "I think they'll be fine. I'm sure they'll have a safe journey." A low-loader transporter has been hired to transfer the pandas from the zoo to Edinburgh Airport. It is not your typical delivery. Mr McGarry says it was an interesting conversation trying to source a lorry to put two giant pandas in. The transporter will leave Edinburgh Zoo early on Monday morning. The exact time was kept secret to reduce the chance of disruption from crowds of well-wishers or protest groups. There are many who think the zoo should never have taken the pandas and are glad they will no longer be living in captivity in Scotland. Bob Elliot, of animal welfare charity One Kind, says: "You can imagine them in the forests of China where they should be but not in a zoo in Edinburgh. "Zoo collections are so old school now that their time has come and we really need to be looking beyond zoos and how we actually conserve animals in the wild." The flight to Sichuan will be on a specially chartered China Southern plane. It is a typical passenger plane with most of the seats removed. The panda crates will be loaded in by fork lift at stand 12 by Edinburgh Airport's terminal building. A RZSS keeper and vet, a Chinese keeper and airline official will have the only four passenger seats behind the pilot and co-pilot. The pandas will have health checks, food and water during the flight but the humans on board will have to heat up their own meals in the on-board microwave because there will be no cabin crew. Mr McGarry says: ''Half way between Edinburgh and China there'll be a handover that none of us will see on the plane.'' RZSS keeper Michael Livingstone will give the pandas crate keys to the Chinese keeper and the pandas then become the responsibility of the Chinese. Mr Livingstone says the pandas are usually a bit lazy and like a lie-in in the morning so he has been gradually bringing forward their wake-up time to get them used to earlier starts. He says he does not envisage any problems getting them into their crates which will be wheeled to the van, driven down the Zoo Hill to be lifted, one after the other, onto the transporter. After customs and other formal checks at the airport, Mr Livingstone says: "They'll be put on the plane, secured in place with the crate wheels removed. ''We'll be able to feed them on the plane with fresh cut bamboo and we'll be able to check up on them." RZSS vet Stephanie Mota will be on board too. She says: ''During the flight I'm not expecting to have major challenges.'' "Yang Guang and Tian Tian are healthy so my plan is to feed them plenty of bamboo throughout the flight. "I will monitor them very closely of course and they will also have one of their favourite keepers with them so they should be happy." Ms Mota will check their breathing, appetite and faecal waste all without touching them because they are dangerous animals. "If we need to do something with a giant panda normally it requires general anaesthesia which we cannot do during the flight," she says. "They are trained but they will probably not be at their best. "It's not the same environment so we are expecting that they will not react as normal." The 12 to13 hour flight takes the pandas to Chengdu in Sichuan province where Yang Guang and Tian Tian will be placed in quarantine again before being transferred to another panda centre. RZSS staff are planning to visit the two giant pandas there next year to check in on them. ''It's bizarre, I feel strange." Mr McGarry says. "I've always known they were leaving and we try not to get attached, but we have to care for them so we are emotionally attached. "It's a difficult day. "I'm excited because I will go back for a follow up next year to make sure they're ok. "I'm sure they will be. They're China's national treasure." https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-67576616

More than 14,000 properties are without power due to heavy rains from Tropical Cyclone Jasper. Hundreds of people have been evacuated in northeastern Australia after extreme floods cut off towns and forced residents to flee to rooftops to escape rising waters. More than 300 people were rescued in the state of Queensland overnight, with military helicopters deployed to assist areas cut off by the floods, officials said on Monday. Cairns, a po[CENSORED]r tourist destination that serves as a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, has been almost completely cut off by floodwaters amid fears the town’s 160,000 residents will soon not have access to clean drinking water. Local officials said the town had received about 600mm of rain over 40 hours through early Monday morning, more than three times the December average. All flights into and out of Cairns Airport, where plans have been partially submerged by floodwaters, were cancelled or postponed on Monday. More than 14,000 properties across the region are without power, according to authorities. In Wujal Wujal, a rural community in the Cape York region, nine people, including a seven-year-old boy, sought shelter on the roof of a hospital. Crocodiles have been spotted swimming in floodwaters in several rural areas, including Wujal Wujal and Ingham. The flooding follows heavy rains and strong winds brought on by Tropical Cyclone Jasper, which made landfall in Australia last week. Queensland state Premier Steven Miles said the flooding was the worst natural disaster he had ever seen in the state. “The problem is rain won’t stop and until it eases up, we can’t get aerial support into remote places,” Miles told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Queensland Treasurer Cameron Dick has warned that the disaster will have a “billion-dollar impact” on the state. Weather officials have forecast more rain on Monday as Jasper is expected to linger over the region. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that the Australian military had been put on standby for rescue and relief efforts. bro srsly, you are funny and pathetic. Frankly, I pity you. You use cut the screenshoots and incomplete and incomplete evidence, and then you talk to the managers in the server as if you are the owner of the server and the managers, and you threaten the manager. I don’t know, do you consider yourself the manager here and we are your slaves? You act as if you are the king and we are slaves and we must obey your command, and if you do not like the map we must change it. Were you really fully conscious when you made this report? And when I became me survival I was afk then dead and I said I was late :v and you said from fear You are mocking us as if you are the owner of the server The second time, Mad Bot warned you, and Ninja also warned you to be polite and not to be impolite, but you did not do so. you still insist on being impolite and behaving as if you were the owner of the server. And @WHAT IS GOING ON warned you before and I know you remember that very well, Last time, you threatened me, saying, “You are a failed boxer,” and mocking me in discord and @Storm Razor kicked you because your bad behavior Your argument is weak, there is no clear evidence from you, and the pictures are cropped and not complete. -
