  1. Raptor Lake is Intel’s range of next-gen processors expected to come out in 2022, and we’ve just seen the first purported benchmark of these CPUs. As highlighted by regular hardware leaker Komachi_Ensaka on Twitter, what could be the 13th-gen flagship processor has been sighted in a BAPCo Crossmark benchmark as Tom’s Hardware reports. Note that the benchmark has since been removed – of course, it shouldn’t have been aired in the first place – but not before Tom’s screen grabbed and shared the news. According to the details given here, the spec that the chip runs with is eight performance cores (new Raptor Cove cores), and 16 efficiency cores (Gracemont cores – the same as with Alder Lake). This is what was previously rumored, and gives the processor a theoretical 32-threads (as efficiency cores don’t have hyper-threading). The benchmark itself shows the Raptor Lake CPU hitting an overall score of 1,591, which compares to a result of 2,376 for the Core i9-12900K, Intel’s new Alder Lake flagship. Analysis: Don’t read much into an early engineering sample It’s no surprise – assuming this benchmark is genuine, which is always a bit of a leap of faith with very early leaks – to see that Raptor Lake is a good deal slower than Alder Lake at this point in its development (the 12900K is almost 50% faster here, in fact). Obviously, when the Raptor Lake flagship is finished, that won’t be the case (if it wasn’t measurably faster, Intel would go back to the drawing board until it was). What’s happening here is because this is a very early testing sample, it’s doubtless locked to slow clock speeds and doesn’t remotely reflect the performance of the final product which should emerge later in 2022 (maybe in Q3). Right now, Raptor Lake will still have plenty of optimization to be done on both the hardware and software fronts. The theory is that Intel’s 13th-gen CPUs will be a simple refresh of Alder Lake, but it’s bound to make some decent architectural gains as Intel refines its new hybrid tech, and obviously the addition of more efficiency cores – a lot more if these early rumors are right – should make a considerable difference to performance too. There is also speculation about Raptor Lake taking some big strides forward in terms of power-efficiency as well, so we can still remain quietly optimistic about what the next-gen might bring.

  3. Rabat - Switzerland has hailed Morocco for its recent development projects, highlighting the reforms accomplished in various fields in the country under King Mohammed VI. “Switzerland welcomes the political, economic, and social reforms accomplished by the Kingdom of Morocco in various fields, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI,” read a joint declaration by the two countries following Morocco’s Foreign Minister’s visit to Bern, the Swiss capital city. The declaration praised “the positive role, dynamic attitude, and constructive contribution of Morocco regarding regional and continental questions.” The declaration came after a meeting between Moroccan Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita with Swiss officials on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic presence of Switzerland in Morocco. The joint statement also underlines “the growing role of Switzerland on the international scene, its significant reinforcement of human rights worldwide, and cooperation with different states and organizations.” Bourita’s meeting with Swiss officials saw the two sides pledging increased bilateral cooperation in various fields. Political, economic, and social issues were among the topics discussed in the declaration, with special attention being paid to climate issues and enforcement of the Paris Accord.

  7. In a shocking revelation, cybersecurity researchers have discovered over 200 bugs in Wi-Fi routers made by nine po[CENSORED]r manufacturers, suggesting that millions of the most common devices around the world are vulnerable to attacks. Researchers from IoT Inspector and CHIP examined devices from Asus, AVM, D-Link, Netgear, Edimax, TP-Link, Synology, and Linksys, and found a total of 226 potential security vulnerabilities. "The test negatively exceeded all expectations for secure home and small business routers. Not all vulnerabilities are equally critical - but at the time of the test, all devices showed significant security vulnerabilities that could make a hacker’s life much easier," said Florian Lukavsky, CTO of IoT Inspector. Greater accountability According to the researchers, some of the security issues were detected across multiple devices, generally because of outdated software. They fathom that, since integrating a new kernel into the firmware is a costly affair, all of the tested routers were running dated versions of the Linux kernel. Similarly, additional services, such as multimedia streaming or VPN, were usually found to be powered by outdated software. When contacted by the researchers, all of the manufacturers quickly responded by releasing firmware patches to resolve the issues. The researchers also used the opportunity to point out that the coalition agreement of the new German government seeks to hold manufacturers accountable for vulnerabilities in their products. “This increases the pressure on the industry to continuously secure products in order to avoid immense claims for damages,” point out the researchers. 8. Rabat – The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Rabat announced on December 2 that it will repatriate Saudi citizens from Morocco. The decision came after Morocco suspended all flights for two weeks as part of its strategy to prevent the Omicron variant from spreading to Morocco. The Embassy informed Saudi citizens in a tweet that the repatriation flights are yet to be scheduled and will be exclusively operated by Saudi Arabia Airlines from Casablanca, noting that interested persons must still have a valid return ticket from the same company. The diplomatic representation urged those who did not have their plane ticket yet, to purchase it from the Saudi Arabian Airlines sales offices in Casablanca. The list of countries that have scheduled repatriation flights for their citizens stuck in Morocco continues to grow. On November 30, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced that it is preparing special flights from Morocco to Canada, Spain, and Italy for December 4. RAM also announced that special flights from Morocco to France will take place from November 30 to December 6. Meanwhile, low-cost Irish carrier Ryanair has decided to cancel all its flights until February 2020, explaining in a statement that uncertainty over Morocco’s decision to suspend all flights has affected 160,000 Ryanair customers. The two-week travel ban comes amidst mounting concerns over the new variant, with the country seeking to preserve the progress it made so far in curbing the COVID-19 crisis.

  10. Rabat – Amid fears of escalating tensions between Algeria and Morocco, many Algerian officials have voiced their concern over deepening security cooperation between Morocco and Israel. According to reports in Algerian media, the recent signing of a security agreement between Rabat and Tel-Aviv has convinced many senior officials in Algiers that Morocco is preparing itself for a potential conflict with its eastern neighbor. Although none of the countries want to create further instability and war in the region, officials in Algeria say they are ready for an all-out war with Morocco, French news outlet L’Opinion has reported. The French newspaper quoted sources close to the Algerian military as stressing that collaboration between the Israeli military and Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces may prove game-changing, as “in three years, Morocco’s military will overshadow Algeria’s.” “Algeria does not want war with Morocco, but it is ready to do it,” one source told L’Opinion, emphasizing that if a war is to break “it has to be today, because we are militarily superior at all levels, which may not be the case in a few years.” With the re-establishment of relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv, Alger is anxious about the military imbalance that may result from deeper security cooperation between Israel and Morocco. “The weapons that worry Algerians the most are those related to electronic warfare and drones,” L’Opinion quoted its source as saying. Read Also: Morocco Purchases Israel’s Skylock Dome System Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has sold to Morocco kamikaze drones for $22 million. The kamikaze drone in question, Harop, carries 20 kg of explosives and can remain in the air for up to seven hours, with a range of up to 1,000 kilometers. Although Alger boasts about its developed military equipment, it considers the Kamikaze drones as a strong system that might defeat its army. The appointment of the Moroccan-Israeli Amir Peretz as head of IAI will further accentuate the paranoia in Algeria, L’Opinion said. Born in the city of Bejaad in the Moroccan province of Beni-mellal-Khenifra, Peretz has never renounced his Moroccan nationality. For Algerian sources quoted by L'Opinion, at stake between Morocco and Algeria is the “leadership in the region.” As Algeria aims to regain its position among the strongest military powers in Africa, the sources stressed, “we must implement a more aggressive diplomatic strategy.” L’Opinion’s article recalled that Algeria spends more money on its army than Morocco. “Over the last ten years, Algiers has bought twice as much equipment ($10.5 billion) as Morocco ($4.5).” In August, Algeria cut diplomatic ties with Morocco and has since intensified its actions to challenge Morocco’s territorial integrity. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said in interviews with the Algerian press that his government is determined to sustain tensions with Morocco and refuses all kind of mediation to end the rift between the two neighbors.
