We have talked to you about Intel's next generation processors and about Intel Optane, a new technology that aims to revolutionize the market for flash memory by offering storage with a high-speed RAM. In theory, everything seems always quite good, but in Tenerife Lan Party 2017 we have been able to put the hands to the most advanced computer, possibly, that there is now in Spain. And it's really impressive. The Qi World store has fought hard to bring the first teams with the recently launched Intel i9 7900X and Optane memories to Spain and is wearing them all weekend in Tenerife Lan Party. There are two computers that mount the new Intel i9 at the show, but there are also computers with the new range i7 X-Series. We have been able to get your hands on the following configuration: CPU: i9 7900X at 4.3GHz GPU: NVIDIA 1080 Ti RAM: 16GB at 2800MHz Storage: 16GB Intel Optane and HDD at 7200rpm 1TB If you are in hardware you will have noticed that the RAM could be something faster, or have more. They could also mount an SSD instead of an HDD, but it's something the store has done on purpose. As they have told us, this is an intentional decision to test the features of Intel Optane M.2 devices. What is Intel Optane? There is a bit of confusion on this topic, but basically it is a flash memory with a heart rate that can '' get stuck '' on an M.2 port to speed up the computer. This is the main function of Optane, give an acceleration to our team. How is it installed? As we have been told from Qi World, it is necessary to make a configuration in the BIOS so that the user does not know that there is an Optane device the computer (not for nothing, but so that it can not be used as storage). Once this is done, the Intel Optane drivers are installed and the company program will automatically start scanning the computer, activating the '' Optane Acceleration ''. Once this is done, the Intel program will fly on its own and the user will not have to do anything at all. Now, how do you accelerate our PC? Optane drivers will read which applications we open most on our computer and will make those applications run faster. The program is something that we will not notice too much in games, but we will do it in rendering programs and other professionals. In short, it works in a similar way to Apple Fusion Drive, but much faster. Let's go with the i9 7900X We would have loved to do all the tests possible to a monster like the Intel i9 7900X, but there are the logical limitations of an event like this. Ah! Something to emphasize, there were two models i9 to play and one of exhibition, reason why the users have been able to test all the week the benefits of these processors. Although we have played with the i9 7900X, for the combination of Optane and GTX 1080 Ti, there was also the very powerful (and very expensive) i7 6950X, a CPU designed to work, especially with a GTX 1010. It should also be wonderful, But we wanted to play the i9. The result, as you can imagine, is tremendous. The game that we have been able to test has been Battlefield 1 in multiplayer mode with everything in ultra configuration and 1080p resolution (yes, they were not 4K panels, which would have been great to be able to see the limits of the configuration. Unnecessary for the multiplayer, as they annoy more than anything else, the DICE game ran at 200 frames per second. This is something spectacular, but even more so are the temperatures of these new Intel X-Series. The i7 6950X was cooled by a liquid cooling kit from Corsair and never surpassed the 32nd. The i9 7900X, however, was cooled with a double overhead heatsink and even with a 140w TDP, it did not exceed 40º with much load after a while in Battlefield 1. It consumes a lot, yes, but the temperatures are very contained. Now ... there are two questions on the table. The first is if we have noticed Optane. Yes but no. Battlefield 1 is one of the most open applications on the computer with Optane, so the Intel driver has noticed that this is a recurring app and, therefore, passes it to the forefront of the cache, which causes it to open Very quickly to be the main HDD a ... HDD. However, the speed of opening is the same as doing so from an SSD, so we have not noticed real advantages of Intel Optane in this time that we have spent in front of the computer. The numbers are there and the speed of Optane is incredible, but in games is something that will not help us too much, at least for the moment. On the other hand, Intel i9. It is clear that the new Intel processor is a beast, but here also has much to say the graphics card. A GTX 1080 Ti can with all and ever more important graphics to play. Processors take longer to become obsolete, while graphics have to be renewed periodically in order to continue running the most impressive games at the highest level without having to lower any parameters. For rendering jobs and professional programs that pull a lot of CPU, it is clear that the new generation of Intel is a real beast thanks to a huge number of cores and, above all, a high speed per core. The best of this first contact with the first i9 7900X that we see in Spain has undoubtedly been the temperature and consumption at the level of resources of the processor itself. It is quite impressive that you run a game like Battlefield 1 without messing up and also meet the temperature level. Hopefully soon we can take a deeper look at Intel's new beast.

Following the latest wave of cyber attacks in recent months, concern about cyber security has exploded among the po[CENSORED]tion. So much so that dealing with hackers is one of the most important challenges facing countries on a political and economic level. But this is not the only concern: climate change and its consequences together with the ISIS terrorist group occupy the first three positions in terms of global threats. These are the findings of the Pew Research Center study published on 1 August after conducting surveys in 38 countries. They asked what were the main concerns of the world's po[CENSORED]tion, resulting in cyberattacks and climate change at the top. This study points out that the latest cyber attacks, notably WannaCry and malware NotPeyta, have put the security of most international companies at risk. So much so that they represent the main threat to 51% of the median economies. For example, Japan places it first, while other large countries such as the United States (with alleged electoral hacking by Russia during the 2016 presidential elections), Germany and the United Kingdom put it in second place. Changing your password often, surfing safely or protecting your router are some of the steps we can take to make our digital life safer. Climate change is another major concern of the po[CENSORED]tion. Specifically for 13 countries in Latin America and Africa they place it in a priority place. The best example is Mexico: for 72% of its po[CENSORED]tion in Mexico is its greatest threat, not least because its capital is one of the most polluted cities in the world. Most of the other countries surveyed ranked second, including Europe. It is striking that the United States places climate change as the third threat after Trump has withdrawn the country from the Paris Agreement. Finally, the other major concern that is within the top 3 of the world po[CENSORED]tion is the threat posed by the ISIS jihadist group, especially for the United States and Europe (a total of 18 identified this terrorist group in the first place, many of them victims Of its attacks like France). In this study we also find other global problems such as the economic situation (Greece and Venezuela) or the refugee crisis (Hungary) - so important in 2016.

AMD is having an excellent 2017, cutting market share distances over Intel by leaps and bounds. No doubt something has to do with the success of the new Ryzen line of processors, which so far lacked a fundamental leg, that of the cheaper processors, complete with the Ryzen 3. These affordable PC chips have already been officially presented by the brand. They will go on sale to directly shade the Intel Core i3, and the AMD Ryzen 3 compete for price and features with Intel's cheaper processors. Neither brand dodges comparative, especially AMD. This company does not stop buying the performance and price of its SoC with those of its main rival, confident that they are able to offer more power less money. In this case ensure that they are able to equip computers with 29% more power for the same as it would cost an i3, information still to be checked independently. In any case, surely the new generation of processors finishes arriving at many computers of the lower ranges of the market. They are two chips, the AMD Ryzen 3 1200 and the 1300X, both with four cores and overclockeables to reach more clock speed. The first one is the most basic version and the second the most advanced version. The Ryzen 1200 has a base speed of 3.1 GHz and can easily reach up to 3.4 GHz, while its older brother will be sold with 3.5 GHz speed and will be overclockable up to 3.8 GHz. The first one has a price of 115 € and the second of 139 €, quite competitive both. There is still no stock in Spanish stores, but will arrive in the next few days. Refrigeration should be - at least in theory - better than the previous products of this brand, which have accumulated a fairly widespread reputation of overheating with extreme ease by demanding too much playing video games. Clearly, AMD Ryzen 3 are not gaming processors as such, although it is possible to play some video games like Overwatch at 1080p with them, always according to the manufacturer itself. Rather it is intended for people who want to use their PC in a smooth, uninterrupted way and playing occasionally.

When Microsoft debuted Windows 10 with the phrase "Windows operating system is dead", many people took their hands to the head. "Windows is dead! What are we going to do now?" Indeed, Windows has died as a traditional system software, to become a service. It is no longer an operating system but a service that flows constantly and is updated and improved when necessary. And users have to learn to adapt to it. Windows 10 as a service implies that you need to update it constantly, for security reasons. The new Windows Update policy, which has just been updated today, implies that Windows 10 will have two major updates per year, in March and September, and these two updates will only be supported for 18 months. Thereafter they will no longer receive security updates, and it will be mandatory to upgrade to the newer version if we do not want to expose our computers to spyware and cybercriminals. Windows 10 Creators Update, mandatory for all Microsoft announced yesterday that Windows 10 Creators Update, the latest version of the system, is now available for all supported devices, including Enterprise versions. Today confirms that the next October 10 will be a mandatory update. The first major upgrade of Windows 10, version 1511, which took place in November 2015, will no longer receive support on October 10, which means that it will no longer receive any enhancements or security patches. If an uncovered hole is discovered, it will be the first place hackers will go. Microsoft has released a statement reminding the need to upgrade to the current version 1703, to ensure the maximum performance and protection of Windows 10 as a service. In September will launch the second major update of the year version 1709, dubbed the name of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. It will include important new features like Paint Retirement, or a new backup system. All these new updates will only be supported for 18 months. It is not really different from other operating systems that work as a service, as with Android, where smartphones and tablets are automatically updated, or come factory updated. On the PC, the users decide and Microsoft is trying to update them as fast as possible, especially in companies, schools and other organizations where the process is more complicated.

Ryzen processors are becoming the star product of AMD. This is shown by the company's earnings during this second quarter of 2017, which increased 19%, compared to the same period last year. The presentation of the latest results has been the occasion chosen by the top officials of AMD to send players two important messages. First, that the developers have completed the optimization of games for Ryzen; And secondly, that they rely on the miners to stop mining criptomonedas. This is good news, as gamers have long faced the shortage of graphics cards (Radeon RX 570 and RX 580, especially) due to mining while waiting for developers to rewrite the code to take advantage of the New Ryzen chips. Sales of AMD Ryzen processors have led during the second quarter - and it puts Intel in a pinch. Specifically, revenue from the company's Computing and Graphics division has increased 59% this year, reaching $ 659 million. Positive figures that offset the negative results achieved by the department that covers the game consoles chips, which experienced a decrease of 5%, to reach 563 million dollars. In total results, AMD reported losses of $ 16 million while earning $ 1.22 billion in revenue. "Our Ryzen desktop processors, Vega GPUs and EPYC datacenter products have received tremendous industry recognition. We are very pleased with our improved financial performance, which includes double-digit revenue growth and margin expansion Brute year after year in the strength of our new products, "said Lisa Sun, president and CEO of AMD As we said, measures have been taken against cryptography miners who use graphics cards to mine cryptones, such as Bitcoin or Etherum - which are not at their best - and that developers have completed code optimizations for Ryzen, there are two Good news for gamers. And also for AMD, which has forecast for the next quarter a 23% growth in revenue. If this figure is reached, the company would provide $ 1.5 billion in revenue for the third quarter of 2017. From the company are working to bring the Ryzen mobile chips to the market while in the coming days will go on sale low-end chips. Than the products.

Reward programs are a good way to earn money. Virtually every company has one, even some famous porn websites. However, it is technological giants like Microsoft who offer the most money to users who find errors in their software. In the case of Microsoft's latest rewards program, Windows is the goal, or rather some of its programs and services related to the operating system. The company offers up to $ 250,000 prize money to find and report bugs on their software, but that's the maximum amount you can aspire to. The previous reward programs of this firm did not offer such succulent prizes. The only drawback is that locating those errors lives up to few people, if any. It is not to open windows and report that WiFi does not work, but to detect errors in the software itself. The programmers who have created it have done the best they know, though no one is perfect. Knowledge that is at least as extensive as that of the developers is needed to see what OS fails. It is the key to these Bounty Program, where technology companies need many eyes watching the code to be able to find the line that is not 100% on your site.

The struggle between Intel and AMD to see who offers the best processor is not only disputed in the middle and high range of consumer, but in the most powerful chips for servers. Today the two main competitors are the AMD EPYC and Intel Xeon, the latter being the ones who seem to lead the way. The comparisons between Xeon and EPYC are inevitable, so there are several webs specialized in Benchmarking the first to draw conclusions about performance, but what is most surprising is the cost and consumption of the latest Intel Xeon. The most powerful of all processors, the Xeon Platinum 8176 has a price of nothing more and nothing less than $ 8719. But even more uncontrolled is the consumption, of 670W with peaks up to 711W. To give you an idea, there are washers with wash cycles that consume less than that amount, much higher than the E5 of the previous generation. Tom Hardware's, the reference site for those who do not decide between AMD and Intel, makes it clear that once again AMD wins again in terms of value for money. Its EPYC 7601 is almost as powerful as the 8176 for much less money: $ 4,200. It seems that although the best Intel Xeon processor is very powerful, the company has not squeezed too much when it comes to cutting costs. It is what makes the same Xeon line have cheaper alternatives, such as the 8160. The curious figures of the Xeon chips of last generation should not hide bad news for its manufacturer. AMD has cut its distances in an accelerated way during the first quarters of 2017, and is already preparing for a new series of processors that will bring them even closer to the first position in the market. We will see if they succeed.

If something is characterized by services like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, it is to have some broad hand in what to share accounts is concerned. Sharing the Netflix password is a much more common gesture than it seems, and in fact 21% of young Americans between the ages of 18 and 24 acknowledge having ever done so. But for every person who does not pay the subscription for 7.99 euros a month, Netflix is failing to earn a money that right now would not be bad at all. As one recent Reuters survey has revealed, one in five young people acknowledge having seen shows like Stranger Things or a Game of Thrones via a shared Netflix account (the same applies to other services like HBO Now or Hulu ). Netflix is not usually overly jealous of users who decide to share their account password, but with the financial results of their last quarter just around the corner, the company could face pressure to change its policy on it. At least, that's what the Wall Street analysts say. Netflix has accumulated months of record user growth, but experts point out that this improvement in revenue will sooner or later begin to stabilize (it is said to go from 31% in the last quarter to 19% in the quarter). Next year) because, for logical reasons, there will come a time when the company will no longer capture as many new users as it did in its first years of life. And there the problems could begin. According to the data released by the Reuters survey (based on more than 3,500 respondents), sharing the password of Netflix - and other streaming content services - is something of the most normal in The youngest application audience. In the age group between 18 and 24 years, 21% of users acknowledge having ever done so; Between 25 and 34 years, the percentage is 15%, and in the rest of the age ranges it oscillates around ten percent. Therefore, the biggest hit of some kind of change in Netflix policies would be the younger users. But to investors that is not something that represents a big headache, since the only thing that companies want to bet their money for this application is to make a profit on their investment. And although it is true that the number of users has grown exponentially in recent years in Netflix, what has not done so have been the benefits: debts remain the great burden of the company.

The production of the first flyer will start shortly and is in charge of the AeroMobil company of Slovakia. This same year anyone can buy one if they have enough money. Forbes magazine estimates its price at $ 200,000 (about 580 million pesos). The exact value will be announced next April 20 at an event held in Monaco, the Top Marques car show. The vehicle has a hybrid design that allows it to be used as a street car or as an airplane, at the user's convenience. The edition that will be launched this year aims at users with high purchasing power. The introduction of a lower cost model is expected, but a possible release date has not yet been sti[CENSORED]ted. At previous press conferences, AuraMobil President Juraj Vaculik detailed that the first commercial flying car will have four seats, offer an operating range of up to 1,400 kilometers and will have automatic driving systems. The current model is the result of over 25 years of work, in which the developer has produced four prototypes. The last one was presented in 2014. The 2014 prototype resembles the one that will be presented on April 20. This model would reach a top speed of 200 km / h in airplane mode and 160 km / h in land use. Your engine will couple an electric power unit and one by combustion. It is not a thing of the future ... flying carts are already a reality! Uber dreams of a future of flying cars It will require 200 meters to take off and 50 meters to land. It can be mobilized on rural or paved tracks. The car was built to be refueled at gas stations with Rotax 912 ULS engine fuel. The structure is made of steel and is covered with carbon fiber. For Juraj Vaculik, the introduction of AeroMobil to the market faces several challenges: "We must deal with laws that have governed air and land transport for the last hundred years. It will not be easy to obtain permits for our vehicle to operate without restrictions, "he said in 2015. The AeroMobil flying car will not be the first to be offered to the public. In February this year, Dutch manufacturer PAL-V announced the pre-sale of its 'Liberty' vehicle. It has three wheels, its dimensions do not exceed those of a regular car. The company raised an initial price of 1,520 million pesos (500,000 euros), excluding taxes, for the 'Pioneer' version, which has the possibility of personalization. The standard model, called 'Sport', has a cost of 911 million pesos (300,000 euros). The distribution of these models is expected by the end of 2018. For its part, Airbus plans to test, before the end of 2017, the prototype of an autonomous flying vehicle as a way to avoid bottlenecks in big cities.

After nine months of intense fighting, the Iraqi army has announced the "victory" over the Islamic State (ISIS) in Mosul. Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al Abadi has arrived in the city after Iraqi forces lifted the national flag on the banks of the Tigris, the escape route from the last Islamist stronghold in the city, the Maidan neighborhood, according to Informed the official Iraqi television. In an official statement, Al Abadi has congratulated the Army for taking over the town. The prime minister "has congratulated the heroic fighters and the Iraqi people for this great victory," said the official statement on Twitter. The Islamic state had controlled Mosul since summer of 2014 and had made it its main bastion in Iraq. Security forces launched an offensive in October to try to recover the city, and in January they took the eastern part of the town. Haider al-Abadi, ordered on February 19 the resumption of the offensive against the jihadists in the west of the city, eventually surrounding in recent weeks Islamic State in the Old City.

The Intel Core i9 was born to break records. The best processor from Intel will leave us many interesting headlines now that half the world seems to have set out to squeeze the limits of physics with its performance, and the protagonist of the last case of extreme overclocking has been the Intel Core i9-7900X, which even Is the most powerful of the company's processors. Even so, they have surpassed 6 GHz with it. Following the record numbers achieved by the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, and after the 7.5 GHz reached the Intel Core i7 with cooling liquid helium, this time it was the turn to the processors on the highest rung Of the Intel Core family. The Intel Core i9-7900X, with the help of liquid nitrogen cooling, has reached 6.016 MHz by the hand of a Gigabyte X299 motherboard (there is a version available for just over 300 euros right now). The author of this overclocking of the Intel Core i9-7900X has been more than well known in the SOFOS1990 world, and his feat leaves in diapers the 4.5 GHz that in the best case obtains this processor through the Turbo Boost 3.0. We are speaking, of course, of a processor whose official price in stores outstrips the 1,000 euros (and that is not the most expensive, since the Intel Core i9-7980XE - the highest range - reaches up to 2,000 euros ). In addition to the Gigabyte motherboard, to achieve this overclocking of the Intel Core i9 it was necessary to also use a DDR4 RAM of G.Skill Trident Z (whose price can reach up to 800 euros if we decide for the version of 64 GB ), A Corsair AX 1500 power supply and a 120GB Corsair Neutron GTX SSD. Since carrying the processor up to a voltage of 1.6V is an unthinkable task without a refrigeration in conditions, in this overclocking could not miss the recurring use of liquid nitrogen to keep the temperature under control. In fact, to achieve these clock speeds it is necessary for the processor to be at a temperature that could never be reached under normal conditions. In this case, the author of this record decided to decrease the temperature of the components up to -110c (as you can see in the temperature measurement apparatus in the photograph on the cover). Of course, these extreme tests serve only and exclusively to demonstrate what a processor is capable of if you apply the most crude overclocking techniques that exist today. As it comes from the factory, this i9-7900X processor is more than ready to reach 3.3 GHz clock speed without messing, a figure more than enough for everyday use that a user will make of this component.

The Windows mobile operating system no longer accounts for 2% of the phone market, but from that 2% it turns out that no less than 70% of Windows Phone users still use the outdated version of Windows Phone 8.1. This version came back in 2014, and after three years it's time to say goodbye to its official support from Microsoft. Microsoft always makes clear the official support deadlines that will receive their updates after launch, and in the case of Windows Phone 8.1 that term covered the 36 months following its launch. During that time, Windows Phone 8.1 has been receiving periodic updates with bug fixes, security enhancements and other new features, all even when Windows 10 Mobile was already available, but that has come to an end. Today, July 11, the support of this version ends. As we can see on the official Microsoft support page, support for Windows Phone 8.1 ends on July 11, 2017. From this day, updates are finished with security fixes or improvements in the system, Except in exceptional cases, Microsoft will no longer release a new version for this operating system. Therefore, users who want to stay updated will have no choice but to install once for all the mobile version of Windows 10. But beyond the end of Windows Phone 8.1 support, what has really brought to light this news is that, still today, only 20% of Windows Phone users have made the leap to Windows 10, A version that we will not forget that it has been available in the market for over a year. The reason? The fall in sales of Windows Mobile, coupled with the requirements to upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile, has left many users stuck in this version of the Windows operating system down the road.

A team of researchers at Carnegie Mellon University has developed a system with the ability to turn a table into a touchscreen. The project is called Desktopography and consists of a small overhead projector, depth sensors and a computer to reproduce the images on a physical surface and allow the interaction of the users. As you can see in the following video, its operation is most intuitive, since it can interact with the same gestures that are used in a conventional touch panel. You have the possibility to select and drag the elements to reorder them, adjust the size of the windows, zoom in or associate them with physical objects to move with them, among other options. According to Robert Xiao, one of the team members, the goal of Desktopography is to provide a mixed virtual physical interaction on a desktop or other surface. For this, the platform takes the interaction of the screens of our devices to merge them with our environment, so that they are part of the reality. The operation of this system is very simple. It consists of an overhead projector and a camera with depth sensors that are placed at a certain distance on the surface of the table. The first device is responsible for reproducing the images on the desktop, while the camera is recording the objects and movements of the user's hands. The user can have multiple open interfaces, organizing the spaces however they want. At the moment, Desktopography is only a prototype that will be presented at the Symposium on Engineering of interactive computer systems in Lisbon (Portugal), and its developers have not yet considered its commercialization.

IBM is working with the United States Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to develop a new brain-based artificial intelligence supercomputer. The platform is powered by an array of 64 IBM TrueNorth chips whose structure mimics the synaptic connections of neurons, so it will have the ability to function as an artificial biological brain. The supercomputer system will be scalable and will have an end-to-end software ecosystem that will enable both deep neural network learning and information discovery. Its sensory processing power will be equivalent to 64 million neurons and 16 million synapses, which will allow it to be much more efficient than systems powered by conventional chips. This system fits into a 4U rack space, in a standard server rack, and eight of these systems will allow an unprecedented scale of 512 million neurons per rack. A single processor is made up of 5.4 million transistors organized in 4,096 neuronal nuclei that create an array of one million digital neurons that communicate with each other through 256 million electrical synapses. The new TrueNorth neurosynaptic system can translate data from multiple sensors, such as images or video, into symbols in real time and efficiently. The AFRL will combine these perceptual abilities similar to those of the human brain with the symbol processing qualities of traditional computer systems. The large scale of the system will allow both data parallelism, which is a programming paradigm where multiple data sources can be run in parallel against the same neural network, as well as model parallelism, in which the independent neural networks form a Set that can be executed in parallel on the same data. As for its practical applications, the new supercomputing system being developed by IBM and AFRL will be used to obtain new computing capabilities that enable the exploration, prototyping and demonstration of high impact technologies of the Air Force.
