Former basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal had a Lucid Air sedan turned into a coupe.

West Coast Customs, known for building wildly modified cars, performed the work that kept the two-door Air looking mostly stock.

Some unique details on Shaq's car include aftermarket wheels and a front trim piece that says "Diesel" instead of "Lucid" in reference to his nickname.

The Lucid Air sedan, for the record, has 45.4 inches of front legroom. That's plenty for most people, but at 7'1" tall and 325 pounds, basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal is not most people. As Shaq recently noted on his Instagram account, he needed a bit of help to fit comfortably inside his new luxury electric car. So, he turned to West Coast Customs to convert his Lucid Air from a four-door sedan into a two-door coupe.

West Coast Customs has plenty of experience with drastically changing the body style of a vehicle. Just a couple of months ago it built a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT minivan for Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife. For that project, they extended the frame and fitted the Porsche with electric sliding doors. The approach was different with the Lucid, but the end goal was the same—more room.

The custom Lucid boasts many of the typical Shaq touches. There are Superman logos on the wheel center caps, and the Air is painted in the same color as his Rolls-Royce Cullinan. However, the most humorous and ironic touch on the car is on the front trim piece. The word "Lucid" has been replaced with "Diesel," which is a reference to Shaq's DJ stage name. Of course, diesel is also a type of combustion engine that could not be more different from the Lucid Air's electric powertrain. It might raise some eyebrows for the few people who don't know the former NBA big man, and it could cause some to believe the car belongs to a certain Fast & Furious star.

The overall look of the modified Lucid is understated, especially for a shop that was known for the wild builds of MTV's Pimp My Ride. Aside from the giant wheels with tires that have the sidewall of a rubber band, the car, at least from a distance, looks like it could have rolled out of the Lucid factory. As far as we know, Lucid has no plans to release a coupe version of the Air; perhaps they'll reconsider after seeing how well the design lends itself to the body style.

It's not clear which model Lucid Air Shaq had modified, as it's difficult to distinguish the Pure, the Touring, the Grand Touring, and the Sapphire. It's likely a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant, the least powerful of which still packs 620 horsepower and accelerated to 60 mph in 3.0 seconds in Car and Driver testing. Needless to say, Shaq should have plenty of performance—as well as plenty of space—in his new car.
