Parkour and stealth appear as key mechanics for the new franchise experience. This Monday, remember, there will be more news

Assassin's Creed: Mirage quiere ser tanto un regreso a las raíces de la saga que acaba de anunciar un filtro visual 100% pensado para nostálgicos

Just look at the trailer shared during the PlayStation Showcase to know that Assassin's Creed: Mirage is a return to the origins of the franchise. That preview almost fooled us into believing that we were facing a remake of the first video game in the Ubisoft saga, the one starring Altair. Now, a development diary makes clear to us the nostalgia shot that is coming.

The best example is the addition of a rather peculiar option, "a nostalgic visual filter", as it has been dubbed, for those who want to explore the game with the palette of low-saturated blues and grays of the first AC title.

The return to its roots goes beyond something purely aesthetic, and in the behind-the-scenes video shared a few hours ago by Ubisoft, several mechanics and features that will be back in Assassin's Creed: Mirage are made clear. "After Valhalla, introducing Basim, a new playable hero, and creating an experience that was a love letter to the origin of the franchise, a coming-of-age story with rhythmic mechanics that brought back that feeling of the first games to the present", sells Stéphane Boudon, creative director of the video game. This will become evident, for example, with parkour.

What will parkour be like in AC: Mirage?
"It's a key pillar of the experience." However, we are in Baghdad, with which the IP once again bets on giving prominence to an urban environment. It promises to be comfortable and fluid, taking Ezio's titles as the main reference, in which maintaining rhythm and momentum prevailed, with the design focused on verticality. "We've got swinging around corners, vaulting, elevators to quickly reach high ground, and new ingredients like pole vaulting, which allows you to bridge great distances between two rooftops."
The dev diary also spends a few minutes talking about stealth, again with very familiar mechanics, and that includes systemic camouflage as well as infiltration missions. There is still a lot to know about the video game. This Monday, let's remember, we have an appointment with the developer's Ubisoft Forward. Assassin's Creed: Mirage launches this coming October 12.
