Summer is synonymous with mango, and also taking care of your skin amid the heatwave. As such, what if we combine the best of both worlds and bring you a summer special DIY body butter that you can make using discarded mango kernels? Enter the Mango Seed Body Butter, shared by chef Sneha Singhi Upadhaya. The nourishing cream, which uses only two ingredients, looked promising. So, we decided to learn more about it. “This is an incredible body butter that is nourishing and with continuous use will make your skin smoother and softer. It takes some time and effort to get to the kernels, so please be patient and careful while removing them from the seeds,” said Upadhaya on her Instagram. How to make the body butter? Ingredients 2 – Mango kernels 1/4 cup – Virgin coconut oil Method *Remove the kernels from the mango seed and chop it into small pieces. Add it to a pan along with coconut oil and cook on low heat till the kernels change colour.*You can use it as is or whip it for a body butter-like consistency. “This needs to be kept refrigerated else the coconut oil melts at room temperature. So try this mango seed body butter and let me know how you like it,” Upadhaya added.Leena Martin, chief dietician, Holy Family Hospital, Bandra shared that for individuals with sensitive skin, mango seed butter offers a light texture and antioxidant benefits that can provide “excellent moisturisation for both the face and body”. Dr Jatin Mittal, co-founder, cosmetologist and skin expert from Abhivrit Aesthetics shared mango seed butter is an excellent natural moisturiser that provides deep hydration and nourishment to the skin. “Its rich content of vitamins and antioxidants makes it a valuable addition to any skincare routine, helping to maintain skin health and vitality,” said Dr Mittal.
