The animal rights party PACMA has proposed using "silent pyrotechnics" to protect animals from "acoustic violence" on the night of San Juan and during summer festivals, as they do in other European countries.

The spokesperson and the third head of the European Parliament list for PACMA, Yolanda Morales, appeared before the media on Tuesday in front of the Congress of Deputies to present a proposal that seeks to combat the "acoustic violence" caused by pyrotechnics, especially during local festivities. and the next Night of San Juan.

The initiative, which seeks a commitment from the 8,000 municipalities of Spain to "not attack without prejudice to the celebrations", advocates replacing traditional pyrotechnics with silent and non-polluting devices. This measure is already applied in countries such as Italy, Belgium and Brazil, and is intended to be implemented in Spain to reduce the negative effects on human and animal health, and on the environment.

 

 

After the mascletá on February 18 carried out in a renaturalized area of Madrid Río and in which more than 300 kilos of gunpowder were used, the Animalist Party PACMA proposed to the Ministry of Ecological Transition that it promote an urgent reform of Law 21/2013 of environmental evaluation, so that shows with pyrotechnic devices whose NEC is greater than 100 kilograms - or 50 kilograms if they are pyrotechnic articles of category P2 - should be subjected to a simplified environmental impact evaluation, since they generate peaks of pollution by particles and various harmful gases.
