Noticias ALEJANDRO Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 The Asturian Abelardo Fernández, former coach of Sporting de Gijón, Alavés and Espanyol, will be the new coach of Cartagena, with whom he has committed for one season. Abelardo, who was capped 54 times by Spain, knows the second division well, in which his new club will play for the fifth consecutive season. The Olympic champion in Barcelona 1992, who during eight seasons with Barcelona won two leagues, two Copas del Rey, two Super Cups, a European Cup Winners' Cup and a Continental Super Cup, debuted as a coach in 2008 with the Sporting de Gijón subsidiary and also coached Candás and Tuilla before settling into professional football a decade ago with the Gijón team and Alavés in two stages and also for Espanyol.
