It seems that in the first place they raised as some XPU that would be combined with CPU X86 and GPU nuclei, something similar to the APU AMD Mi300A. He did not convince this idea in the company and in the end they have stayed as a "simple" GPU.

The company stressed that it will take the skills for artificial intelligence obtained with Gaudi solutions and will combine with next -generation XE architecture graphics for HPC and heavy work loads. In addition, it will be supported by the software ecosystem formed by Oneapi.

All this is very good, but the big problem is that Intel Falcon Shores will have a TDP of up to 1,500 watts. To get an idea, the Nvidia Blackwell have, according to the model, consumption of 700 w, 1,000 W and 1,200 W maximum. We already know that Blackwell are GPU of a power for truly huge. While the AMD Instinct Mi300X will have consumption of 750 W and the MI300A will have consumption of up to 760 W.

During the German event, it seems that Intel would have commented that Falcon Shores will not be able to refrigerate by air, as with the Gaudi3. Come on, we have a real nonsense before us. Intel members have already assumed that they will have to use liquid cooling, something that makes the product more expensive and generates maintenance problems.

Falcon Shores will surely have variants with consumptions that could range the 1,000 W, but of course, much less powerful. These systems could be refrigerated by air without major problems. But, the highest -end models will need an RL to work and that makes them less competitive.

As the only viable option is that computing power really justifies this excessive consumption. Although, seen the company's precedents, it seems quite unlikely. We only have to see the Intel Xeon processors, which consumes much more than the AMD EPYC with less nuclei and worse performance.
