Scarleth
New King in Town Match the tiles, earn gold stars, decorate a castle. The steps are as easy as the game. Dream Game’s first game, Royal Match, is yet another puzzle game to hit the Google Play store in early 2021. Royal Match already claims over 30,000 downloads and almost a five-star rating. A tile-matching game, Royal Match follows a tried-and-true play style of providing an upbeat soundtrack, fun animations and a quirky backdrop. There is nothing new in the story of Royal Match: simply build and decorate King Robert’s castle and grounds. But Dream Games’ clean artwork and attention to details sets the game apart from other tile-matching games. Also, the game possesses a soundtrack that is oddly addicting. Dreaming Big Dream Games got its start in 2019 after raising over $7 million in seed funding, leading to the release of Royal Match. They immediately put themselves ahead of other free games on Google Play with one single appeal: no ads. After playing through to 100 levels, we never had our gameplay interrupted by 15, 30, or 60-second ads. This is a bold move that sets Dream Games apart from other companies and might help them gain a following if they can keep putting forth games of this quality. Tile-matching games can become quickly repetitive, so Royal Match throws in variety with complex tile combinations. Creating different tile combos allows for power-ups like TNT barrels, firework rockets and disco balls, which clear more of the board. This also makes collecting coins faster and increases the chances of level completion. The loading screen for each level provides hints on what tile combinations will get one of the many power-ups. Each fully-decorated room also comes with a chest of power-ups that players can use or save as they see fit. Be warned that the first 20 levels of Royal Match lull the players into a false sense of ease, and then the difficulty increases with the addition of “super hard” and “extra hard” levels interspersed. However, it is possible to pass every level (at least up to 100) without purchasing any extra lives or power-ups. Overall, Royal Match delivers on its statement that “Each new episode comes with free coins, unique awards, surprising tasks, wonderful areas and uber cool matches”. HardcoreDroid will continue to pay close attention to Dream Games and what they bring next to the gaming world.
