[Auto] Porsche Taycan GTS: the electric quintet is completed in Chile

Recommended Posts

Despite its youth, the Porsche Taycan already has a long history. It was launched globally in 2019 and landed in Chile a year later, in its higher versions called 4S, Turbo and Turbo S. And in 2021 the entry variant called simply Taycan landed.

As well. As the range offers a large gap between the 490 Hp (571 Hp with overboost) of the Taycan 4S and the 625 Hp (680 Hp) of the Turbo, it is that towards the end of 2021, Porsche presented the GTS variant of the Taycan, and it is she that now arrives in the country, positioning itself right in the middle of the Taycan poker offered in Chile and the world.

The GTS variants are famous at Porsche, and refer to the acronym Gran Turismo Sport used by the brand since the 1960s. They not only offer unique and differentiated aesthetics, but also greater performance than the entry versions and, especially in this car, greater autonomy.

The Taycan GTS is rated at 380 kW (517 Hp) in normal mode and 440 kW (598 Hp) with overboost, with 850 Nm of torque when using Launch Control, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, offering a top speed of 250 km/h. Right in the middle between the Taycan 4S and the Taycan Turbo.

The most important thing (or not, depending on the customer) is that it incorporates the battery called Performance Battery Plus with 93.4 kWh, which allows it to offer the greatest autonomy range of all Taycans: between 439 and 504 km in the WLTP measurement ( between 539 and 624 km in urban measurement), being the first Taycan to exceed 500 km of autonomy.

The dimensions of the Taycan GTS are the same as the rest of the range: 4,963 mm long, 2,900 mm between the axles, 1,381 mm high and 1,966 mm wide.

It does show, however, some of its own exterior and interior design elements. It features many dark or black accents typical of GTS models, such as the front apron, the base of the side mirrors and the frame of the side windows. Also black are the 21-inch wheels and specific design.

In the passenger compartment, the Race-Tex fabric in black and the brushed aluminum pack with a black anodized finish underline the elegance and dynamism of the model. It also has a panoramic roof with sunlight control.

The new Porsche Taycan GTS will be priced at $186,900. The range starts at $142,000 with the Taycan, continues at $157,000 with the 4S, and jumps to $193,000 and $224,000 for the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S.
