PS VR2 is the official virtual reality headset for PS5 and went on sale in February 2023, so it has a little more than a year behind it. In this time it has seen some interesting games arrive but nothing that indicates to an average user that they are essential to improve their experience with their console, so such a dull outlook has caused some inconvenience to the Japanese.

These problems have to do, obviously, with the fact that PS VR2 has not sold as Sony had expected and when things go wrong more than expected, the time comes to make difficult and unprecedented decisions. And is the future compatibility with computers of the PS5 VR glasses the most complicated that the company has taken since it began its firm commitment to virtual reality?

The PS VR2 are piling up with no exit in sight
A few weeks ago, Sony came out with the announcement that PS VR2 would be compatible with PC, that we could connect them to our computer to enjoy games published only on that platform. That was telling us that in a few months it would be possible to link our glasses to Steam (for example) to finally have the opportunity to play a game with the superb Half-Life Alyx. Which is for many the best VR development that has ever come out.

Many of us, when we listened to the Japanese, frowned, because Sony is not one to share its technology happily and prefers the closed preserve of PlayStation. So at that moment many wondered why such a decision was made. Have they reconsidered and think that the best thing is to have a multi-platform VR viewer or is everything ultimately caused by another event that is much more damaging to the company's interests.
