In 2023, 1.4 million motorcycles were sold in Mexico, which represents an increase of 0.2% compared to the previous year. The most relevant thing is that the sister country has had a decade of uninterrupted growth in regards to the motorcycle market. According to Wikipedia data, it is the twelfth economy in the world (Spain is the fifteenth). According to the International Monetary Fund, in 2023 the Mexican economy grew by 3.4%.

The positive figures were especially concentrated in the scooter sector (+14.4%), while motorcycle sales fell by 8.2%. Over the last decade, the motorcycle industry in Mexico has not stopped growing to become one of the largest in the world, since there are not many countries where more than one million units are sold annually.

The Mexican market is dominated by Italika (whose motto is: the engine of your life), a local brand with a production of about 750,000 units and which controls 70% of sales. Mexican manufacturers dominate with an iron fist and, unlike many other countries, Japanese brands are in the background.

After Italika, the absolute leader, Vento (another local brand) occupies second place, ahead of Honda and Bajaj. The four big Indian brands: Bajaj, TVS Motor, Royal Enfield and Hero have realized the potential of the Mexican market and are fighting to get a piece of the pie.

To put things in perspective, one million motorcycles were sold in Europe last year, a figure much lower than the 1.4 million in Mexico. Which places the market of the Ibero-American country in one of the largest markets in the world.
