[Moto] QJMotor patents a single-cylinder V-twin

We had been hearing rumors for years that Ducati was going to manufacture a single-cylinder model but the thing had not materialized. Many of us remembered the beautiful Ducati Supermono and we did not lose hope that in Bologna, despite all the work they have, they would find the budget and time to make a monkey. QJMotor patents a single-cylinder V-twin
Something similar happens to QJMotor in the motorcycle industry. The Chinese brand is young and is not burdened by the inertia and prejudices of companies that have been producing two-wheeled vehicles for half a century or more. So the engineers at QJMotor have come up with the idea of making a single-cylinder with two cylinders!

Have you been somewhat stunned? Let's try to explain it, the propeller developed by the Chinese brand is a V-twin but the second pot and piston is only used as a kind of balance shaft. The truth is that the idea is not completely new because Ducati followed a similar path in its Supermono from the 90s of the last century, with a second connecting rod that rotated in a vacuum. And engines as po[CENSORED]r as the Yamaha TMAX use a "blind connecting rod" as an internal balancer, too.

The drawings you see here are QJMotor patents to which the colleagues at cycleworld.com have had access. In the Chinese case, the second cylinder has a piston (smaller diameter) mounted at 90 degrees to the main one that functions as a balancing shaft.

We do not know if QJMotor will bring this idea to the series but what is evident is that the Chinese brand invests in R&D&I (research, development and innovation). We will continue to inform.
